[W126 Coupe] Sunroof Rail Access

There are, I believe, five clips on the front of the sunroof headliner
panel. If you can move the sunroof back one inch, it's easy to get a tool
between the headliner and sunroof metal panel to pry the headliner loose.
The clips are about 3/8" inch long and go straight up into the panel. They
look quite similar to the clips that hold the edges of the interior door
panel into the door - mushroom looking thing where the stem of the mushroom
goes into the hole of the metal panel.

Once the headliner is loose, you can then slide it back out of the way and
see what's broken up there.

Subject: [W126 Coupe] Sunroof Rail Access

Well now that I am out of work (anybody looking for a senior
manager/operations manager/project manager?), I am forced into doing some of
my own work on my 560SEC (not really a bad idea). One of my problems is
that my sunroof is not working. There was a major clunk and it now does not
slide back or tilt open at all. So how do I get access to the rails to see
if that is indeed what broke? I looked in the archives but it appears like
the people with sunroof problems could at least open the sunroof a bit to
remove the headliner. I really need detailed instructions on this as I
don't want to ruin other things. I have a great welding shop that I did a
lot of business with in my job so they could do the welding and cleanup for
free. Thanks.
