Inspect the metal line along the bottom of the center chip (the
speedometer/odometer one) It corrodes easily, and burns out easily if you
short any circuit in the cluster.  Don't ask me how I know that.

Hey!

I'm new to the list.  Thanks for letting me join. ;)

Has anyone figured out how to get the instrument
cluster lighting to work on the 126 SEC?  The problem
I'm having is that the reserve fuel lamp is stuck on
the "ON"/"empty" position, while the fuel gage still
functions properly,  but the instrument cluster
lighting is completely off.  

After doing some debugging and reading a bit, I
learned that the "sending unit" may have an "open
circuit" or that there may be a break in the circuitry
to the instrument cluster somewhere.  However, the
problem I find with this is that my fuel gage works
correctly, but the empty gas light is always lit.  

I also learned that when I accidentally mis-wiree the
cables for the left rear window regulator, that my
instrument cluster lights came on and the the reserve
gas light went "off".  Therefore, this tells me that
there is some short or open in a circuit that links my
instrument cluster lighting with the reserve fuel tank
lamp.

Can anyone help?  My SEC does not have a fuse on the
back of the instrument cluster and all the instruments
lamp bulbs are new and function.  In addition, I
replaced the rheostat.  I am left puzzled and needing
some help.
