Sell what you can without making a mess of things. Offer it to the salvage
yard stating you want the wheels back after it's delivered.

I'm interested in some interior pieces if you'd like to work that out. I'm
in Orange County, CA

Subject: [W126 Coupe] update on totalled 560SEC

Hi guys,

I am finally back on the list! Thanks Satish!

Here is a picture link again:

I had a meeting with the appraiser last week to sign the settlement. You
guys might find this interesting: The car was appraised at $11035. It is
an '89 560SEC with 130k miles and in excellent condition. To put this in
perspective, I bought the car 2 1/2 years ago for $12000. Amazing the
value these cars hold.

I decided to buy the car back for the salvage value and have removed the
stereo system I had gotten installed by reusaudio. Several listers were
interested in parts but parting the car out turns out to be much more
problematic than I imagined. I called several salvage yards to see what
the interest would be in a car that had certain parts stripped and the
answer was decidedly negative. A major issue is the wheels in which Jim
Ham expressed interest. Without wheels, the car can obviously not be
rolled around anymore (Jim's 14in wheel do not fit over the brake
assemblies on the '89 so a straightforward swap is not possible). Buying
wheels for a car that's going to the scrap yard would be pretty silly
too though. So mighty list, any suggestions?

Oh yeah, I live in San Francisco and I don't have a garage or another
place I can just leave a partially stripped car, just to complicate matters.

Thanks,

mike
