[W126 Coupe] Noises at 80 km/h

Sometimes, it can be something so simple as a tire that is out of round also. Try swapping another tire in place of the current one and see if that quiets the hum. If all wheel bearings are good on the front wheels, then check the rim itself. I don't think the rim would cause that problem though.

Hello all,
I have been experiencing a low hum at freeway speeds.
Starts at about 70 km/h and worsens as the speed gets higher.
Becomes more noticeable when you take the foot off the gas.
It's subtle and there is no vibration in the steering wheel but it's
annoying because the car has lost its smoothness. The car feels a bit
'agricultural' at present.
I've recently replaced the donuts on the tailshaft and other rear end
rubbers.
I suspected a bent rim / tyre out of round but nothing turned up after
an alignment.
Any theories on drivetrain-related items?
The car is due to go to the mechanic for another look tomorrow.
