Matt, Sorry too. I hit the other Bambi in my 81 300SD a couple of years ago. Very similar damage. Most importantly, about 2 months later the #2 piston exploded. Of course, rebuild or factory new engine in order. I called State Farm and told them I felt (I really did) that is was related to the Bambi incident. They paid for the entire rebuild. You might check it out. I still have State Farm. Mel>From: mbcoupes-request at mbcoupes.com

When I turned the key I would listen for the buzzing before I turned to starter position. If I did not hear a buzz I left the ignition turned ON and grabbed some channel lock pliers giving the pump a rap or two until the buzz returned. It started every time with that procedure(not found in owners manual). Jim Alexander

>First off, for those of you coming in on Friday, let me know when you plan to arrive. I myself will be in mid-afternoon and will be with Satish at the shop. We plan to hang there, get some things ready and then head to dinner/bar afterwards. If you come in early enough, you can meet us at the shop, the phone number is 248-668-6793. Or you can try me cell at 484-919-9762. If you come in too late and just want to meet us Saturday, that is fine too.

>Saturday details:
>We plan to start at 9am sharp at the shop. Highlights of the day include the following tech sessions: Mercedes race engines session, alloy wheel repair/refinishing session, Hunter engineering tire/alignment/balancing session, as well as a surprise "session or two" somewhere mixed in. Lunch will be provided/served. My mid afternoon we should be done with the technical sessions, and the shop will be open to tinkering/repairs as Satish has graciously allowed us to use his shop to work on our own cars. We will then decide what type of food we are interested in for dinner and go there for food/drinks and wrap up the night.

>Bummer Matt. A close friend of mine had a similar encounter while he and his wife were riding on his motorcycle. He just recovered from the broken neck etc. and his wife completed the grafts to replace certain of the skin parts that were lost. So, count your blessings and I do hope you can save that SEC. Quickly, there is an SEC for sale in Quincy. I think you could steal it for 4-5 k if you acted this week. I ran a car fax it was clean. (have a copy for you if interested. It's an 88, 129k miles. Black/black. It will go to the auction where I turned down the offer to buy yesterday. Let me know. For the cost of the entire car you could just take the hood if need be and part out the rest. Body and interior clean. Brand new standard size Pirelli's. Needs some work I have the details. You would have to reach me in between flights today.

> Matt, Sorry to hear about your mishap. Hope it comes back together okay. You can also try Autosports Unlimited, they have a hood for $1000, not sure of the condition. You can search their website at: http://www.autosportsunlimited.com/parts.html A few other salvage places I dug up from recent searches for things you can try: http://www.eurasianforeign.com/http://www.auroraaw.com/http://www.junkyarddog.com/http://www.silverstarrecycling.com/ Plus, I thought there were a few on the list that had recently wrecked their cars and bought them back, David Fatovic is one that comes to mind. Of course, if their wrecks included the hood then you are out of luck. Maybe someone will respond if they have one.Best of luck!Markus--- On Tue 04/12, Chiappinelli, Joseph < joseph.chiappinelli at mirant.com > wrote:From: Chiappinelli, Joseph [mailto: joseph.chiappinelli at mirant.com]To: mbcoupes at mbcoupes.comDate: Tue, 12 Apr 2005 10:17:30 -0400Subject: RE: [W126 Coupe] Bambi is dead.....
