[W126 Coupe] OT - any farmers out there?

IIRC we have a few farmers on the list. I might be limiting my choices
but I'm looking for any US farmers willing to just quickly give me a few
reasons that farmers need subsidies (I already got that other developed
countries give WAY more in farm subsidies...anything else? If there is
any commonly needed equipment that costs $50k or more that would be
great. Also, if anybody has any stats on closure rate of family farms
that'd be great too...I don't need anything concrete, since this will be
spoken and sources won't be looked into, but I would like it to be
fairly accurate). This isn't meant to spark a debate or anything, I just
need some info for a class. Obviously, lets not clutter the board and
instead send responses to rishayegan at davidson dot edu.
