Well, it's probably incorrect plug wire positions on the distributor =
drive. I assume this is a pre-1996 119 engine with dual distributors =
and coils correct? I doubt compression is an issue. Cam timing is =
relatively easy to check after pulling the valve covers.
I'm betting that it's the position of the plug wires on the =
distributors. Check those carefully against a diagram. Note that some =
wires from the right bank route over to the left distributor and =
vice-versa. I'll bet this wasn't done.

Subject: [W126 Coupe] R129 500SL help
I Have posted the message on the R129 list but since I am not a member =
of the R129 list I fear that my post will not get through. Those few who =
have transplanted the an M119 engine to their W126 SECs might be able to =
offer an insight.=20
Anyway, the problem is that my mechanic is working on a R129 that =
needed a valve job. After he refitted the heads back, the car in =
question has no power at all. It starts and idles fine but has no power =
once on the go, if the accelerator is floored ---- no power. I will be =
visiting him next week to personally drive the car and see what could be =
the problem and to help him do a bit of trouble shooting.=20
A few things already in my mind are to go over the cam timing, correct =
plug wire fixing and a compression test. Any other points that come to =
mind would be welcome
Thanks in advance.
