I need some thoughts here. My car would not start at the airport and had to
get towed 20 miles to the mechanic. It looks like the trusty '87 420 SEL
has died from the dreaded timing chain failure at 457,000 miles. However,
the tow truck operator, in order to tow the car, ended up ripping off my
front license plate and the outside temperature sensor in his haste. He also
put a big scratch on the side of the car--which has a few others. He did say
he was sorry, after he handed me the bill for $77 and now I'm thinking that
I paid to have the car towed and not damaged. Am I out of line asking for
compensation for the sensor (about $60) and paint damage on a car that is
going to the junkyard?
Thanks.
