Hi Peter,

same story here. Two years ago mine died, an EST450, the electronic
version. I've replaced it with a selfbuilt 24V DC version. You need a
transformer, bridge, sieving capacitor, a 7824 voltage regulater a few
resistors and three 2n3055 transistors (with cooling!). You also 'need' a
few parts from the old powersupply like the aforementioned lamp proxy
(function: to keep the lamphead fan running while the lamp is off but still
hot) and the connectors...

The darn thing is also a good heater :-) that's the price you pay for DC
:-) :-) :-)

Have a word document I can send.

Hi to all,

The transformer which powers the 450 CLS head on my ageing Durst L1200
enlarger has just had the last rites pronounced on it. Replacement
transformer units seem to be a little rare on the second hand market, so
does anyone know how to rig up an alternative 24 V 450 W power supply?

...Peter Barry
