Jim,

Thanks for the report on the conference. It's good to have a balanced view 
so I'm glad that you told us about the positive aspects of the conference. 
I have the feeling that you might at least have had a little fun :-)

One of the best features of these events is noting to do with the event 
itself, but rather the opportunity to meet people who you may have been in 
contact with for some years but never met. I was really hoping to attend 
with the main incentive to meet some of the people on the list.

I was surprised that there were few learning opportunities and more in the 
way of marketing from the various LF kit vendors. Still it is probably the 
vendors who help to make such an event possible as running any conference 
is an expensive business both in terms of time and facilities.

I hope that you managed to take the time out to take a few photos. I was 
last in Monterey in 1989 - the surrounding area and particularly the drive 
down from San Francisco along the coast road is one experience that I would 
like to repeat with a 4x5 camera.

Let's hope that it was generally a positive experience for most of the 
participants and that Steve will be holding another event next year.
