Hi Tom !
I'm geting late on this, but...
If you look at Durst beast, you can find old Laborator 1000 or 138 for a 
cent, provided you pay for shipping. The 1000 is definitelly a very good 
one.
And now, you can also find Laborator 1200 which is still in production. 
(my camera club has been given an L1200 B&W, with a peak one focus 
finder and a set of optics !)
Bear in mind that you must use the exact condenser set for the format 
you use in order to get even lighting on the baseboard, and that 
condenser are very hard to find, if they do not come with the beast.
