Dear Uncle Dick
I am glad that the mail is getting through despite the washed-away roads and
the plague of deadly echidnea.
I was interested to read about your absent 6x9 Super Rollex . Was this for
a 5x4 or 6x9 Linhof? I used a 6x7 Rapid Rollex on my Century Graphic (I
could not find a 6x9 one) which slides into 6x9 cameras designed to use a
Linhof-type double darkslide. It is plastic, quite light and works well. I
bought mine from a dealer for £225 in mint condition but cheaper ones have
been seen on Ebay.co.uk. The more conventional metal Rollexes that replace
the Linhof groundglass back usually come cheaper, unless as new. How much
are you buying them for in the States inc freight? I found it so
expensive to buy bits in the US what with freight across the planet and UK
customs when landed that it isn't worth thinking about.
Philip.
