Charlie,
    To present the alternative view from what has already been mentioned, I
use one all of the time.  It holds my Z6 field camera, 110mm and 210mm
Scheiders, 12 film holders, spotmeter, a dozen or so Wratten gel filters,
and a spare section for miscellaneous stuff.  It's not actually naugahyde,
it's something called "cordura".  The only thing I wish it had was a handle
(in addition to the shoulder strap).  I do load everything into a backback
when I'm going farther.
    You can generally get one on Ebay for about $50-60.
