Dear Friends,

Well, I used to write terrible things about the English, but I have
stopped. It is not remorse or improvement in manners - it is the fact that
the English in real life always seem to outdo me as soon as I think
something up.

Case in point was when I laughed at the heir to the throne. Now, I have
a special affection for HRH as he wsa born the same year as I was and I can
watch his spreading bald patch with sympathy - or perhaps that should be
empathy. Whatever, it is more comfortable in the cold weather if you wear a
wooly hat....

But when I considered the fact that he might be long to reign over us I
was more scathing. I even snortingly suggested a few years ago that we
would be hearing of him found in the arms of some horsey-faced mistress or
spanking blonde with big chest for sale a-la the News of the World. Then
reality caught up, and I realised that they had better researchers than me
and they were pinching my material and converting it to real life. I ceased
tempting fate.

Now I only write nice things about them in case they are listening and
making notes.

I have turned my attention to the Canadians. You can read my latest
column at www.apackofflyblownlunaticslurkinginthewoods.com.au or the
French-canadian version on the back of the computer in French.
