Hi all,

It's this time of the year again when the Worldwide Pinhole Photography
Day is just around the corner and it's time to get the old shoe box out
of the closet and dusted off, just to check if you can still make a good
photograph without all the help of all theseHigh Tech lenses in your bag
and all that digital circuitry in your camera bodies!

D-day is Sunday April 28 and everybody is invited to go out make a
pinhole picture and then load on the web site of WPPD at
http://www.pinholeday.org/

If you go there now, you'll be able to visit last year's gallery,
including Andy's remarkable contribution (there is a powerful search
engine by name, country, etc... to make it easy to track him and any of
your friends who wouldn't dare say they do pinhole photography in
secret). Andy, I hope you'll be around again this year with all your
students!

Some of you may not have a shoe box to turn into a pinhole camera, so
here are a few suggestions:

1- Stick a piece of aluminium pie dish with a tiny 0.1mm hole on one of
your lens plate and mount it on your precious 11x14 Wisner Mahogany
Field camera. Do the same with your old Graphlex and get a 4x5 pinhole
image..Or use your 4x5 digital camera back to make digital pinhole
images!

2- build a 4x5 pinhole camera with foamcore. Dirt cheap! You'll find
all the instructions on the Ressource page of the WPPD site.

3- convert your precious van or something similar into a pinhole camera.
Ilan Wolf does that all the time http://ilan.wolff.free.fr/index.html#
and some people have done much worse! http://www.bauwagenkamera.de/

4- turn a hotel room into a giant pinhole camera (that's my plan for
April 28)

5- turn the Great Wall of China into a giant pinhole camera (that's my
friend's Zernike Au and his colleagues' plan for April 28)
http://www.zeroimage.com/WPPD2/The_Great_Wall_pinhole/introo.html

6- Turn anything else into a "camera obscura", really anything you can
imagine and make a pinhole on April 28! (Jan, how about really a HUGE
panoramic pinhole image, for a change?)

Whatever you do, don't get caught by time. There's only 16 days to go
before April 28 and you've got to get organized. The picture much be
created ON April 28 and loaded before the end of the day May 31! -:))

Cheers friends,

Guy
