[LargeFormat] Uncle Dick Learns a Valuable Lesson

Dear Pete,

Thank you for the kind words but really it is very simple - you just
write about the normal daily occurances of your life.

If the Autopole system in your studio leans sideways and clouts the
portrait sitter round the back of the ear and then wraps them up in the
muslin backdrop, you simply record it.

If the aerial film you have just shot a show on refuses to load into
the SS reel because it is on an estar base and has more curves than a
mountain road, and you are forced to develop it in a ball in a wastepaper
bin, you make notes.

When the belly dancer falls out of her costume you merely help her back
in with 2 warmed soup spoons. Really, it is all very basic.

And the one principal that you must remember about large format
photography....

You can do anything you want to as long as you don't know it is
impossible. Never look back, never look down, and never admit to the fixer
stains on the upholstery.

     Uncle Dick
