[LargeFormat] How do you transport lenses in the field?

I shoot with a 8x10 and 11x14 Deardorffs. I do not mount the lenses on 6x6 
boards. Instead I use a 6x6 to 4x4 adapter and mount all lenses on 4x4 
boards. Even my Ilex #5s are mounted this way if the rear lens can fit 
through my machined adapter attached to the board. I can fit 7 lenses
in my Walmart / Contico tool box. In the tray I keep my meter, gray scale
loupe, extra loupe, a 1/4 socket driver ( I bolt the camera to tripod using 
grade 8 bolts), filters etc.
The lenses are in home made lens wraps that have extra thick ROUND foam 
pads for protection.

From the sublime (Michael's article on Aero Ektars) to the trivial, (a
practical question):

I have four lenses and want to pack them all in my kit when I go out to
photograph, but I don't have cases for them.  I attach them to lensboards,
put on their caps and stick them in my $16.00 tool chest from Home Depot.
Am I asking for trouble?

How do you carry lenses in the field -- attached to lensboards, in cases,
with or without lenscaps, in some special gizmo, or how?
