I still think Dektol is a good paper developer and extremely cheap and
long lasting. The first and last print from a tray are very close. I
also use it in a roller transport machine at 95 degrees C and it lasts
even longer (30 / 8x10s per quart/liter replenishing rate !) .

For film I prefer Kodak TMax developer (Liquid) and made my own zone
system schedules. For even finer grain and somewhat smoother tones, try
Microdol-X or any other "favorite" developer.

For all my fixer needs I use "color fixer" from Fuji Hunt. It comes in
5 Gallon cubitainers and is very cheap ($30) if you need to use quite
larger quantities. It dilutes 1+4 to 1+9 depending on your use. I add
some 28% Acetic Acid to it if I want some hardening properties, and get
rid of the "slick" feeling (fairly high pH).

Hi,

Ok now that I've looked at the freestylephoto site. I'm also curious
about the arista B&W chemistry. What is it like? And should I bother
trying it? Thanks much

Greg
