Dear Les and Don,

Thanks for the tips on the paper. I did write to the Chicago Albumen
Works about the POP but they pointed out that it was actually Kentmere paper
and suggested I might be able to get it cheaper from England. Funnily enough
getting the English firms to deal by post with Australia is a lot harder
than doing the same with American ones - I think we beat them once too often
in cricket and they are sore about it....

Joking aside, I do remember Portriga and it was wonderful, but I have
not seen it for decades here. I use Agfa MCP and a couple of French toning
kits and sometimes come up with interesting results. Also tried chromic acid
as a bleach before toning and came up with some VERY interesting - read
weird - tones in the final print.

BTW - that is my Dangerous Tip Of The Month - Chromic acid crystals
dissolved in water and used as a tray and bath cleaner - the best one I have
ever seen to get down into the slots of a Nova processor and rout out the
silver and the dead earwigs. Also good for your gums if you have
trenchmouth. Trust me.
