[KOML] Virus-generated e-mails to KOML -- Solution

Hi Everyone,

This is a plea for everyone on the list to (a) update
your anti-virus software now and regularly, and (b)
perform a full system scan & clean.

It seems that I am not the only one who has been
receiving almost daily nonsense messages, addressed to
the entire KOML, and appearing to come from my Yahoo
account (but under the name "Groove").

I am NOT sending these messages. We are all victims
of a virus (or actually, a "worm").  This particular
worm has infected the computer of someone who has BOTH
my address and the KOML address.

This worm sends infected e-mails to one address (in
this case the entire KOML), and 'spoofs' the return
address -- using another one which is resident on the
infected computer (in this case, my address).

I always keep my anti-virus software updated and scan
my entire system frequently. Also I use a firewall
program (ZoneAlarm) that helps stop any possible worm
activity. Moreover, the messages to KOML claim my
Yahoo address as their origin, and I know that Yahoo
employs strong anti-virus measures. IT THEREFORE
SEEMS ALMOST CERTAIN THAT THE INFECTED COMPUTER
BELONGS TO ONE OF YOU.

Accordingly, I can only suggest and plead that each of
us keeps our computers as clean as possible, and
employs a good firewall to help catch (and stop)
worms.

Believe me, I'm as irritated by this as all of you
must be.
