I have some very serious news to tell you. I'll start with the good news first. The last few years we have seen the ministry grow tremendously. We are now broadcasting on seven major television networks including the NRB Network, Direct TV, The Dish Network, The DayStar Network, The Inspiration Network, AngelOne, three times each week on The Sky Angel Network, plus other independent stations. The Lord has also opened the door for us to broadcast our daily one-minute apologetics program on 196 radio stations. Overseas, our television program can now be seen in 200 countries, and people from 184 nations are coming to our website for information. A few years ago I couldn't even have imagined this. Christians have written and told us they have been strengthened in their faith, folks are accepting Christ as their Savior, and people have been supporting the ministry. But here is the reason I'm writing you. Throughout January, there was growing news about the stock market, followed by news from the media and the politicians about a "possible recession," the rising costs of heating bills, etc. Whatever it was, I watched as donations started drying up, the phones stopped ringing (normally they are non-stop), and the bills began to pile up. During the month of January, we quickly used up $150,000 worth of resources and in a few short days started falling behind. We now must raise $575,000 by February 26. It has taken us by surprise and placed us in a very vulnerable position. With no funds available, we know that in just 14 days all of our television networks will expect payment for the next month or they will not air our program. That is not a lot of time! If something doesn't happen immediately we will not be able to continue. So what are we going to do? Our daughter, Michelle, broke my heart last night when she wrote out a check to the ministry for almost her entire month's salary. I have gone to the Lord in prayer asking for His guidance. His answer, "This is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He heareth us." I believe it is God's will that we continue to defend the Gospel and the truths of His Word in all 50 states and in 200 countries overseas. Believing this, I have asked God to meet our current needs through His people. I believe we can reverse this present situation if you will help right away. If God were to lead you to do so, we could eliminate this problem right away and continue ministering. I believe this is only a temporary situation that we need to get through. I think you know that we are the only ministry on television that has ever done programs on Roman Catholicism, the Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormonism, the Masonic Lodge, Islam, the Missing Gospels, The Discovery Channel's The Family Tomb of Jesus, why the Bible is God's Word, the evidence for the historical Jesus, etc. I think you understand what our ministry is all about and why it is so needed today. I don't want to slam the door shut on people like Robert -- who wrote: "I am a terminal cancer patient and was just told I have three months to live. Naturally, I'm extremely concerned about what happens next. I most urgently want to make my peace with God prior to my departure. I recently discovered Dr. Ankerberg. and watched his debate on Roman Catholicism. I've been watching regularly each week since. If the Catholic position is correct, then I'm in big, big trouble. If the Protestant position is correct, then it takes a great burden off my mind. Send me the most compelling case for the truth." What's a person like Robert going to do? To whom will he turn? One morning I was invited to be the guest on CBS radio in Phoenix, Arizona. I was surprised to hear how the non-Christian host introduced me. "This hour I'm going to be joined on the telephone by Dr. John Ankerberg. His book surprised me in that it was well researched and well written and well documented. Even though I don't necessarily agree with all of his opinions, I do think that of all the books I've read on this topic, this certainly is the best researched. John Ankerberg, as you know, has his own television show and is, in my opinion, without doubt the most credible and the most well-informed of the televangelists. In fact, I think he gives a good name to what is unfortunately a profession of ill repute." Many folks have told us they think we have a very important and influential television ministry across America. But, many have never sent a gift. That's why I need you to stand with us now. You are an important part of our wonderful team of Christians that God has given to us. If you will help, we can get the job done. My prayer is that God will stir your heart as you remember how He has used our programs in your life. On that basis I am asking you to give and help us save the ministry. Pray and ask God what He would have you to do. Our staff is praying that God will meet all of your needs so that you will be able to help. And then, we need to hear from you right away. I need to hear from you before February 26th. That's our deadline. If God has prospered you and you can do more, your help will be greatly appreciated. It's all on the line for us now.
