Dear Friend,

 

 Many watching our current series on science, have said that the
astronomical evidence for creation has evoked a feeling in them that God has
awesome power and knowledge.  David agrees with this sentiment in the Psalms
where he writes, "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim
the work of his hands.  Day after day they pour forth speech; night after
night they display knowledge.  There is no speech or language where there
voice is not heard.  Their voice goes out into all the earth." (Psalm
19:1-4)

 

   I remember a time when I stayed at an old cabin up the near the Canadian
border, miles from the nearest city.  Although the cabin had no electricity,
it was situated on a beautiful island surrounded by a vast lake.  At night,
I would walk down to the lake and see the reflection of the stars in the
calm waters.  My eyes would be drawn to the sky where I would gaze in wonder
at millions and millions of stars glittering like diamonds against the black
velvety background of space.  I thought of the words of the Psalmist who
said: "When I consider your heavens, the work of your hands, the moon and
the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of
him?" (Psalm 8:3).    Have you ever had that same feeling?

 

   David said, "Oh Lord my God, you are very great." (Psalm 104:1) The
pictures of our vast universe taken by astronomers, and the evidence of
great design, should establish the fact that our God has awesome power to
save us and protect us, and wisdom far above our own to guide us.  

 

   We can learn things about an architect from looking at a building he has
designed, but the only way we will ever know his inner feelings and
purposes, is if he speaks to us.  The same is true of God.  We can learn a
lot about Him from looking at the universe He has designed and made, but to
really know Him, we must hear Him speak.  Scripture is where God speaks to
us and communicates how He feels and thinks. 

 

"As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your
ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.  As the rain and the snow come down
from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making
it bud and flourish, .so is my word that goes from my mouth: It will not
return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the
purpose for which I sent it." (Isaiah 55:9-11)

 

   What does God say He desires for us?  What benefits has He provided?
Here are a few:

 

 "Praise the Lord, oh my soul, and forget not all His benefits -- who
forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life
from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your
desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagles.
...The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.
He will not always accuse, nor will He harbor his anger forever; He does not
treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.  For
as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His love for those
who fear Him; as far as the East is from the West, so far has He removed our
transgressions from us.  As a father has compassion on his children, so the
Lord has compassion on those who fear Him; for He knows how we are formed,
He remembers that we are dust.  As for man, his days are like grass, he
flourishes like a flower of the field; the wind blows over it and it is
gone, and its place remembers it no more.  But from everlasting to
everlasting the Lord's love is with those who fear Him, and His
righteousness with their children's children -- with those who keep his
covenant and remember to obey his precepts.  The Lord has established His
throne in heaven, and His kingdom rules over all." (Psalm 103:2-19)

 

   Look at the benefits God provides in the above paragraph.  Do you need to
have God apply some of these benefits to you today?  The evidence from
astronomy and physics demonstrates that the God who made the heavens and the
earth has awesome power and knowledge. He is able to keep his promises to
us, to save us, to forgive our sins, to love us and to protect us. 

 

  The science programs we are airing show not only what happened at the
moment of creation, but also the vastness of the universe, the great care
and design God built into the universe without which life could not exist
anywhere.  This month, we will further examine:

 

.        The "Origin of Life." Why life could not have come into existence
by chance. You will learn about the scientific evidence that has refuted
recent evolutionary assumptions about the origin of life, including the fact
that there is no evidence of a pre-biotic soup anywhere on earth at the
beginning of earth's history.  

.        Did Man Evolve from the Apes?  The answer is no, as scientists have
found evidence that apes and man have a different brain size, and different
DNA.  Apes and man were separate creations.

New Taping on the Middle East


 

     In just a few days, I will be back before the cameras, taping a new
series concerning the events taking place in the nations of the Middle East.
These events increasingly mirror what the prophets predicted would come
about in the last days. Once again I've invited news correspondent, Dr.
Jimmy DeYoung, who has lived in Jerusalem for the last 12 years, and has
interviewed all of the Prime Ministers of Israel, the Palestinian leaders,
and the last two kings of Jordan.  Also joining us will be Dr. Renald
Showers, professor of biblical prophecy for more than 25 years, and author
of many important books and articles.  

 

   Middle East MeltdownHaving just written our new book, Middle East
Meltdown ( http://www.johnankerberg.org/catalog/BMEM.html), there is a lot
of new information I want to share with you. Everyone knows the Middle East
is a mess, but most people do not know the underlying reasons why we have
such turmoil.  This new series will air the last week of March.

 

                                   

 

 

 

Amazing Growth at Our Internet Site

 

      For those of you who faithfully give to our ministry, and for those of
you considering it, I'd like to share with you an amazing statistic that
shows how God is using your gifts.  In the last 12 months 2.5 million people
have come into our web site www.johnankerberg.org and registered 22 million
hits.  This means that on average, each person entering our web site is
reading 10 different articles or viewing 10 different broadcasts.  If they
listen to a radio broadcast, that counts for one hit.  If they read one
article, that counts for another hit.  If they watch our weekly television
broadcast, that registers as a hit. 

 

     More cause for praise comes from the fact that people from 185
different countries of the world are visiting our web site.  China is now
registering the third most hits of any country.  That is a lot of people!  I
ask you to pray for all of them.  Some are searching for salvation, some for
encouragement from God's Word, and some for answers on how to present and
defend the Christian faith.  We receive a lot of calls for help similar to
these excerpts taken from e-mails and letters we receive everyday.

 

.         What can I say to my professors about Jesus' family tomb?  Does it
really contain the remains of Jesus' body, along with Mary his mother,
Joseph, and Jesus' brothers? Does the evidence show Jesus never resurrected
from the dead?

 

.         I need to be delivered from illegal drug use and pornography.
Please pray for me.  

 

.         Because of your programs I began to take my faith seriously.  I
saw some of your early Mormon, JW and New Age programs back in the 1980s.
The information on these and other programs led me to believe in the
reliability of the Scriptures and also developed in me a keen interest in
apologetics.

 

.         Praise the Lord!  I was born again in Jesus Christ.  Presently I
am facing big problems.  Please pray for me.

 

.         My sister, who is a widow, is living in Guam where we come from.
She is openly inviting Jehovah's Witnesses to come into her home.  Can you
please help me?  Where can I read up on Jehovah's Witnesses to let her know
not to join this cultic church?

 

.         My daughter is doing a college paper on the topic "Is the Bible
True?"  Her professor is giving her a difficult time, raising the issue that
there were other gospels written that were left out of the Bible. Can you
direct us to resources that she can incorporate into her research? 

 

.         Recently the pastors in my church have been advocating and
teaching the use of visualization techniques for "hearing God's voice." What
information do you have that exposes this false teaching?
