I sent wool to Gulf Island Spinning Mill in Canada a year ago, and
just, after checking back every few months, got part of my order back.
My yarn is not what I expected. It is both marked as being even and
has a separate note saying that there were second cuts and some very
short staple length. and a mix of crimpy and not crimpy. We'd sorted
for fine and medium weight wool, and nothing is marked. The yarn is
spun alternately loose and over spun, and skein weights vary widely.

We asked for batts if the wool wasn't fit to spin into yarn, but
evidently this was some in between level of judgment. I haven't
photographed it yet. My spouse doesn't feel the yarn is even fit to
sell, while I'm quite willing to dye it and sell it. I'm much less
willing to consider ever sending my wool back there again. It was the
only time we tried sending ours away for processing, and so we asked
for a lot of feed back. If this is typical, it wasn't worth it. What
experiences have other folks had?
