I'm not sure why we/I call that line of longer hair/wool running down the brisket a beard in sheep as it's really part of a mane, but that's what I've always called it. It is NOT anything like a beard in a goat and is nowhere near his chin. Cindy called a beard and I knew just what she meant.

Subject: [Jacob-list] Bearded Ram?







The brief discussion of beards on Jacob rams prompted me to go to our ram pen and look for beards that I apparently had missed in the past.  All of our rams appear to be clean-shaven, and I do not recall having seen (or noticed) a beard on a Jacob ram.  Posters probably are referring to something other than the type of beard found on goats.  For me and other JacobLister who might be confused, I will appreciate being referred to a website with a photo of a Jacob ram with a prominent beard.  Thanks for your effort.
