OK I am going to stick my neck out here.   First of all I don't dock too
short but I do it for the following reasons.

1)  Cleanliness, if they were not confided to a barn, paddock etc they
would probably be able to keep themselves cleaner but since they don't
have unlimited space, off they go.

2)  I like the look.  If I could breed them without long tails I would.
