"Something" adjusts one's computer's internal clock automatically when connected properly to a "time server." And that's the extent of my knowledge. Not much, huh? :-) The DST issue came to my mind, too. But could two different time servers be so technically lagging? I checked my time zone setting, etc. And, of course, the internal clock made the DST adjustment automatically for me. I miss the ability to sync my system's clock. Maybe the problem will just go away? I hate it that the peer's "stratum" is less than the host's "stratum." I believe in a classless society. :-) Thanks, Blake. To figure out what this "stratum" thing is, = perhaps a=20 peek at the help file in the time updater program you are using will = explain it.=20 I looked in mine, but there is no mention of a stratum.

I use Locutus's SocketWatch for time updates. = They=20 provide access to some 100 time servers around the world to get the time = from. I=20 only use 5.

When interrogated the time server returns the = Universal=20 Time value (with a measured delay time) to the program. The program then = updates=20 the counter in the computer's clock allowing it to be reset to = hundredths of a=20 second! My last update was 0.093 seconds, but I wasn't on for about 24=20 hours.

For what it's worth,

Dick

In the past, I've been in regular email correspondence with mlireland@webtv.net and she with me.  In the past month, neither of us can reach the other, with no rejection or non delivery messages.  I can send and receive messages with correspondents with earthlink and webtv addresses.  The earthlink help line suggested a correction procedure which yielded no blocked addresses in the screen for blocked addresses.  Any ideas??  Very frustrated Oledoc
