Marion,
Bad news! I should have asked what version of Outlook Explorer you are =
using. You got the right file, but it will not be in ASCII file format. =
The data will not be readable by Notepad and I don't know what program =
will read it. Also, If you installed the updated OE after deleting the =
message, the data might be gone.
You might try going to the Web and searching Yahoo.com for the phrase =
"dbx reader" Perhaps there is a utility that will read that file.
Right now, copy that file to another place for safety. =20
Anyone else got another idea or option?
L8r

Blake and Ted-
The only file I found that looks like it comes close to that is =
"Deleted Items.dbx" Couldn't find "Deleted Items. mdb" Is it possible =
it's the same? I'm not confident enough to experiment in Windows =
Explorer.
Thanx, Marion

Marion,
If within OE you have used the feature "File, compact" since =
deleting that message, likely, you are out of luck. If not, the data =
should still be accessable. If that data is to be found, it will be in =
a file called "Deleted Items.mdb". =20
=20
Search for it using Windows Explorer and when found, right click it =
and choose "open with" and from the list of options then choose =
"Notepad" as the program to use. Uncheck the checkbox that says =
something like "always use this program".
Notepad will open or you will get a message that the data file is to =
big for notepad and would you like to try to open it with Wordpad. Say =
"Yes"
The "Deleted Items.mdb"file contails all the messages you deleted =
since installing OE or since last compacting the OE database files. So, =
you will either have to scroll through the entire file or use "Edit, =
Find" to search for a phrase that was used in the message or header of =
the message.
I no longer use Windows 98, so called Ted Levy for confirmation. =
Thanks Ted.
Hope you find what you need.
Regards,
Blake Boyer =20
