Yvette Clarke's statement on Guinea, and next steps Message-ID: <646066.28350.qm@web33906.mail.mud.yahoo.com> Dear friends and family, It's been an eventful two weeks on the Guinea political front - our march in Washington on the 26 with the exciting news of EU and now US travel sanctions against the CNDD and their associates, and serious negotiations in Ouagadougou that are hopefully moving us closer to a civilian transition committee and the departure of the junta. In the midst of all of this, just wanted to share one other little victory in our campaign - Representative Yvette Clarke's official statement in the Congressional Record on Guinea, calling for justice and assistance. For more and the full text of Clarke's statement, see the post on the Alliance Guinea website here. Also would like to express a special thank you to Don Jameson, Brian Pederson, Raul Rothblatt and Matthew Edwardsen for their crucial help preparing for and undertaking our meetings on the Hill and State Department last week. Now we are looking for people to participate in US Congress district office visits in your home state to continue to raise awareness about and support for Guinea. No experience necessary!! We've learned that it's actually very easy, and definitely highly satisfying to do - and we even have a new advocacy kit for you to use. If interested, please email Brian Buehler (brian_d_b at yahoo.com) and Sekou Konde (sekoukonde77 at yahoo.com), who are helping to match up Americans and Guineans to do these visits together. Finally, our educators team is working to get off the ground with ideas about how to talk about Guinea in schools and spread the word through educators' listservs, etc. - if you have ideas to share or otherwise would like to get involved in this angle, please contact Chloe Graef at gchloe at optonline.net.
