[Guinea-list] General strike to resume starting January 10: Guinean unions

All,
  Normally I don't post new items to the listserv, preferring to leave it to the FOG blog. But this one is fairly significant.
   
  Head of state Gen. Lansana Conté recently fired Communications Minister Justin Morel Jr. Trade unions were outraged by this and other actions by the presidency which they claim undermine the power sharing deal signed that ended last year's general strike.
   
  As a result, unions have said they will resume the general strike next Thursday, January 10.
