We use MoneyGram regularly.  They have an office in Conakry and charge a $10
fee (which is much lower than Western Union).  It's true that they don't
tell you the exchange rate - it comes up on the receipt as 1, which would
suggest that the receiver will receive US dollars but they pay out in
Guinean francs.  The exchange rate seems to be okay, but like any money
transfer service they are definitely taking their cut.  Overall, we've found
MoneyGram to be reliable and the best option currently available.
