Dear Stephanie Chasteen,

I am about to visit Guinea on behalf of a client that
are about to develop a mine, refinery and smelter
project in Guinea  at Sangaredi. (Yeah Another one).
The company however are a good global citizen  and
want to employ  and train local labour indeed the
intent is that over 10 years the expatriate personnel
be reduced to less than 50 and the plant be run by the
Guineans themselves.
 
I will be in Conakry next week 16th October 2007 and
wish to meet with anyone that offers skills training
for local people and begin to establish a program that
will be able to be set up and run for the life of the
project.
 
I wonder therefore if you can recommend any
organisations that might give advice on any aspect of
recruiting and training local labour and any other
pearls of wisdom so that I don’t wander about putting
my foot in my mouth. I will be accompanied by another
Aussie who has been to Guinea some years ago who
speaks fluent French (mine is basic) but any advice
would be gratefully received.

I intend to travel to Boke and Sangaredi and any local
knowledge you have would help.
