The "Internet Index" is a collection of facts and statistics about the
Internet. One recent Index included the following:
Percentage of full-time, four-year college students in the U.S. who use the
Internet: 90
Rank of "Pokemon" among the most popular search terms at Lycos for 1999: 1
Number of times President Clinton mentioned the Internet in the 2000 Statue
of the Union address: 6
Number of broadcast-quality responses from members of Congress posted at
FreedomChannel.com: 75
Amount of campaign contributions on-line to John McCain in the first two
days after he won the New Hampshire Republican primary, in dollars:
1,000,000
Estimated percentage of online orders from women for the 1999 holiday
season: 50
Maximum percentage of foreign ownership permitted by China for Chinese
Internet content or service providers: 50
Estimated number of Mexicans with Internet accounts in 1999: 916,000
Number of record companies suing mp3.com over a new digital music service:
