            The Land of Israel Necklace
            consists of a crystal glass pendant filled with the entire Land of Israel including Jerusalem, Hebron, Bethlehem, Nazareth, The Sea of Galilee, The Jordan River, The Dead Sea, as well as other locations.           the rules of Palestinian politics are absolutely fatal to the hope of getting a Palestinian state, becoming more moderate, ending terrorism, or stopping even officially sponsored PA incitement to commit terrorism. Palestinians know these rules well, though outsiders seem largely unaware of them. Exceptions can be found but they are are few, and since these are considered shameful they go unpublicized and thus form no precedent for changing the rules, which are:

         Yes, 60 years ago this month, a reluctant gentile world still somewhat shaken up by the horrific sights revealed by the liberation of Hitler's Death Camps, scraped together just enough compassion to support the establishment of a homeland for the Jews. That compassion has long gone.

         When a shared premise is lacking, not only do negotiations usually fail, but they usually do more harm than good. Such is the case in the forthcoming Annapolis, Maryland, talks. One side (Israel) seeks peaceful coexistence while the other (the Arabs) seeks to eliminate its negotiating partner, as evidenced by its violent actions, its voting patterns, replies to polls, political rhetoric, media messages, school textbooks, mosque sermons, wall graffiti, and much else. 

        d.. The missing shift

         For now, not only is there no Arab consensus on the acceptability, let alone desirability, of a Jewish state, but defending the notion of Jewish national rights in any part of "Palestine" is still taboo. Compared to the Israeli need to rekindle dashed hopes, the missing "psychological shift" on the Palestinian/Arab side is of tectonic proportions. It is on creating this shift that international diplomacy must explicitly focus, rather than continuing to pretend that it has already happened.
