            The Land of Israel Necklace

         Those who support recognizing all or part of the Hamas-Fatah terror government are in breach of international law and of UN Security Council Resolution 1373, which bars member states from financing terrorists and those giving them safe harbor. There is no peace process, only a war process. And if we do not recognize this fact and fight, we shall soon begin to bury more innocents whose lives will be sacrificed because we were too stubborn to acknowledge reality.

         Competent negotiators know that you don't start negotiations unless you can reasonably be assured of a successful outcome. The Quartet has stumbled badly and its' reputation has been shot to pieces.

         However, the Hamas based regime correctly assesses that it is heading towards full international recognition and legitimacy, without recognizing Israel and without relinquishing terror. How will that come about?

         There is, after all, a fitful cease-fire in place between Hamas and Israel. Maybe Hamas will act better than it is willing to admit, goes the thinking in nations like France and Norway, which have already announced willingness to deal with the new Hamas-led government. Unfortunately, there is no basis for such optimism, based not only on the PA's words, but on its actions.
