      1. THE PLO: AMERICA'S NEXT BATTLE
      By Mike Evans - =A9 2003 WorldNetDaily.com - September 5, 2003=20
      America's next battle in the war on terrorism should be fought =
against the PLO and its founder, the godfather of world terrorism, =
Yasser Arafat. Israel cannot win its war against terrorism alone. Israel =
has no silver bullet to dispatch the PLO network being fed by the =
Islamic world, but America does: It alone can shut off the economic =
support that pours in weekly by the millions.=20

      Arafat and his PLO organization have been working all summer in an =
attempt to discredit President Bush's peace plan as irrelevant. Why? =
President Bush labeled Arafat as "irrelevant." It appears that Arafat is =
succeeding.=20

      The PLO is still considered the legitimate representative of the =
Palestinian people ... an amazing feat to have a terrorist organization =
demanding a state. Arafat has played the terrorism card, and has =
utilized Hamas and Islamic Jihad as his weapons of choice. Now, he is =
calling for the appointment of a new interior minister in charge of his =
security forces. This post was formerly held by Mahmoud Abbas. This =
would give Arafat a bigger voice in negotiations. All key decisions =
would have to be referred to him for approval.=20

      All the terrorist organizations and terrorist-harboring nations =
have one thing in common: They all support PLO terrorism. Islamic =
dictatorships throughout the world stir up their masses by justifying =
terrorism in the name of the PLO cause, rather than dealing with their =
own shortcomings. They have brainwashed their populations into believing =
the West, in general, and Israel, specifically, is the root of all of =
their problems.=20

      Israel is the only nation in modern times that has been pressured =
to give a terrorist organization part of its territory. But despite =
Israel's attempts to comply, it has suffered more terrorism per capita =
than any nation on Earth, while PLO-controlled territory has become a =
world distribution center for the exportation of the H-bomb (human =
bomb.)=20

      PLO terrorism is not about land. If it were, then the PLO would =
have accepted the Barak-Clinton Camp David proposal. It's about =
eradicating Zionism and the Jewish state. Its strategy of using =
terrorism as a tool to achieve its goals has never changed. America has =
put pressure on Arafat to control terrorism, and for brief interludes =
terrorism decreased drastically. This proves one thing: If Arafat can =
curb terrorism he can also incite terrorism. And while he was recently =
turning down the flame of terrorism, he used the time to organize a =
shipment of some 50 tons of armaments on the Karine A.=20

      In an article in the New York Times on Feb. 3, Arafat stated, "To =
stop terrorism, we must understand that terrorism is simply a symptom, =
not the disease." That logic contradicts the entire Bush Doctrine on =
America's war against terrorism ... that there is no justification for =
terror.=20

      If Americans buy into Arafat's premise, it will mean a protracted =
ride on the back of the terror tiger. Any attempt to root out global =
terrorism without plowing the soil in which it grows will only spread =
the virus more quickly. As long as Arafat lionizes suicide bombers as =
martyrs, the Jihad genie will stay unbottled. Arafat, who has compared =
himself to George Washington, can denounce terrorism because he has =
redefined its meaning.=20

      Arafat's "gift" is in destroying states =96 as he tried to do in =
Jordan and Lebanon in the '70s and '80s =96 not building one. If Arafat =
were truly loved by the Palestinian people, thousands of Palestinians =
would not have fled his regime to become American citizens. The truth =
is, Arafat is a dictator and a terrorist who has been instrumental in =
killing even more Palestinians than he has Jews.=20

      Israel cannot mobilize a global coalition to see that a terrorist =
like Arafat who has killed innocent civilians throughout the world =96 =
including dozens of Americans =96 is extradited and brought to justice, =
but America can.=20

      2. WE CANNOT COMPROMISE WITH EVIL
      by Jon Alvarez - September 3, 2003=20
      The other night I had to take a break from watching the news. The =
footage of the young victims of the latest bus bombing in Israel was =
especially disturbing and was causing my blood pressure to rise. So I =
decided to watch the old film MacArthur, starring Gregory Peck. As I =
watched this film, I was amazed at how General MacArthur's words, spoken =
nearly fifty years ago, still ring true today.=20

      MacArthur was a strong leader, filled with conviction and =
determination. This seemed to alienate many who seemed to be quite =
jealous of his popularity in this country. Sound familiar? In his battle =
versus communist China and North Korea, political enemies, too, hindered =
him in his quest for victory. Sounds familiar, right? In many ways, =
President Bush is in the same situation General MacArthur was over fifty =
years ago.=20

      MacArthur also said something that really seemed to stand out. He =
stated, "We cannot compromise with evil". Truer words have never been =
spoken. Fifty years later, we are still battling not only with evil, but =
those within our country who are willing to compromise with evil.=20

      In light of the bombings in Israel and Iraq, it should be =
perfectly clear that there is no reasoning with terrorists. Yet, were =
one to tune in to any news broadcast, you'd hear politicians and news =
analysts calling for Israel to exercise restraint, while her citizens =
are being targeted for murder. When will the lesson be learned that we =
cannot compromise with evil? How many innocent children are to be =
slaughtered by radical Muslims before enough is enough? It is time to =
either unleash Israel or to join them in destroying Hamas, Hezbollah and =
other like-minded terrorist groups, as well as their supporters within =
the governments of Syria and Iran.=20

      To achieve peace in the Middle East, the terrorist-supporting =
regimes in Syria and Iran must be destroyed. That is the true =93road =
map to peace=94. Syria should be held responsible for Hamas and the =
attacks against Israel. Has Syria done what Powell told them to do in =
Damascus with regards to Hamas? No. Iran is backing the attacks by =
terrorists in Iraq and is on the verge of obtaining nuclear weapons. It =
is time to act, before it is too late. In both instances, the =93road =
map=94 and the war on terror are interconnected, as they were in Iraq. =
America and the world are both safer today because Saddam Hussein is no =
longer in a position to sponsor terrorism.=20

      Getting back to MacArthur. History has proven that MacArthur was =
right. 50 years later, North Korea is still around and is currently =
resorting to nuclear blackmail. Compromise has not solved anything on =
the Korean peninsula; it has only exacerbated the situation. Let's look =
at what MacArthur told Congress in 1951 after he was relieved of =
command:=20

        =93There are those who claim our strength is inadequate to =
protect on both fronts, that we cannot divide our effort. I can think of =
no greater expression of defeatism.=20
        =93If a potential enemy can divide his strength on two fronts, =
it is for us to counter his efforts. The Communist threat is a global =
one. Its successful advance in one sector threatens the destruction of =
every other sector. You cannot appease or otherwise surrender to =
Communism in Asia without simultaneously undermining our efforts to halt =
its advance in Europe...=20

        =93There are some who for varying reasons would appease Red =
China. They are blind to history's clear lesson; for history teaches =
with unmistakable emphasis that appeasement but begets new and bloodier =
war. It points to no single instance where this end has justified that =
means, where appeasement had led to more than a sham peace...=20

        =93Like blackmail, it lays the basis for new and successively =
greater demands until, as in blackmail, violence becomes the only =
alternative.=94

      Not only was General MacArthur correct in his assessment of =
dealing with the threat of Communism, but the dangers of appeasement as =
well. Some critics argue that we cannot fight on more than one front. =
That did not stop us during WWII, when we had to do so. This is America; =
we can do anything we put our minds to.=20
      We are once again at a crossroads in history. We not only have a =
threat, once again, from North Korea, but from terrorism as well. Will =
we rise up to the challenge? MacArthur believed that we could not, and =
should not, compromise with evil. History confirms this as a truism. =
Just look at Nazi Germany for further evidence of how compromise and =
appeasement failed and how, ultimately, force had to be used to defeat =
evil. Examine the situation in North Korea fifty years later; the threat =
is still there and has become much worse.=20

      Can we afford to deal with terrorism in the same manner? General =
MacArthur would say no.=20

        "In war there is no substitute for victory."
      - General Douglas MacArthur=20

      3.   WHO SUPPORTS ISRAEL?
      by Daniel Pipes - National Post - September 5, 2003=20
      'I have developed a habit," writes Richard Ingrams, a columnist =
for The Guardian, a far-left British newspaper, "when confronted by =
letters to the editor in support of the Israeli government to look at =
the signature to see if the writer has a Jewish name. If so, I tend not =
to read it."=20

      This shameful passage raised a small storm in Britain over =
anti-Semitism. But what about Ingrams' implicit assumption that Jews =
uniformly support the Sharon government?=20

      At first glance, this might seem accurate. Israeli Jews voted =
Ariel Sharon into power and the leading diaspora Jewish organizations =
generally take their cues from Jerusalem. But a closer look reveals the =
assumption to be nonsense, as Jews are among Sharon's (and Israel's) =
most vehement and vocal critics.=20

      The academic campaign to delegitimize Israel presents a striking =
example of this, for Jewish faculty have lead the effort. Noam Chomsky =
started and other Jews picked up the pressure on American university =
administrators to withdraw investments from Israel. In Britain, Steven =
and Hilary Rose initiated an academic boycott against Israel; John =
Docker had a similar role in Australia. Among Middle East specialists, =
Joel Beinin, Ian Lustick, Sara Roy, and Avi Shlaim lead the anti-Sharon =
charge.=20

      Authors such as Norman Finkelstein, Thomas Friedman, Michael =
Lerner, Arthur Miller, and Susan Sontag are outspoken critics. Lawyer =
Stanley Cohen specializes in representing the enemies of Israel. British =
MP Oona King states that "in escaping the ashes of the Holocaust, =
[Israelis] have incarcerated another people in a hell similar in its =
nature -- though not its extent -- to the Warsaw ghetto." The president =
of the World Jewish Congress, Edgar Bronfman, clashes publicly with the =
Sharon government. One compilation lists 65 predominantly Jewish or =
Israeli anti-Sharon groups.=20

      In short, Jews -- especially the intellectuals among them -- do =
not uniformly support Sharon.=20

      There is, however, another group that does predictably support =
Israel: conservatives. And, no less predictably, the Left opposes =
Israel. While there are plenty of exceptions, this pattern has wide =
validity. Some examples:=20

        - A conservative like U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay =
speaks of the "common destiny of the United States and Israel" and the =
"heartfelt friendship between the citizens of two democracies at war, =
bound by the solidarity of freedom." In contrast, a far-leftist like the =
writer Kirkpatrick Sale considers the idea of a Jewish state "a mistake" =
and explicitly proposes the time has come "to ask whether the =
50-year-old experiment known as the state of Israel has proven to be a =
failure and should be abandoned."=20
        - Britain's Labour Prime Minister, Tony Blair, hosted a =
conference in early 2003 on the Arab-Israeli conflict and did not bother =
to invite Israelis; he also ostentatiously snubbed Israel's foreign =
minister. In reply, Conservative Party Leader Iain Duncan Smith =
criticized Blair for "fiddling with pointless conferences while suicide =
bombers are malignantly burning their way through Israel" and he berated =
Blair for "giving support" to Yasser Arafat while refusing to see the =
Israeli foreign minister.=20

        - It was primarily conservatives in the European Parliament who =
pushed for a parliamentary committee of inquiry into the possible misuse =
of the European Union's monthly =A310-million stipend to the Palestinian =
Authority for support of terrorism. Ethnicity and religion certainly =
play a role in shaping attitudes but ideas matter more. One telling =
symbol of this was in 1998, when The Nation magazine called on a leftist =
Jew (Andrew N. Rubin) to savage a book by a conservative Muslim (Fouad =
Ajami) for being too friendly to Israel.

      In many other countries, as Charlotte West observes, Israel also =
finds its most solid support among conservatives; Australia, Canada, =
France, Italy come to mind.=20
      This is a new development. Twenty years ago, liberal or =
conservative outlooks had little bearing on one's views of Israel or =
other Middle East issues. During the Cold War, Middle Eastern problems =
stood largely outside the great debate of that era -- policy toward the =
Soviet Union -- so views of the Arab-Israeli conflict, Iraq, militant =
Islam, and other topics were formed in isolation from larger principles. =

      Today, all that has changed. The Middle East has replaced the =
Soviet Union as the touchstone of politics and ideology. With increasing =
clarity, conservatives stand on one side of its issues and liberals on =
the other.=20

        Daniel Pipes is director of the Middle East Forum and author of =
Militant Islam Reaches America (W.W. Norton).

      4. ISRAEL HAS ALWAYS FACED ARAB GENOCIDE
      by Louis Rene Beres - September 2, 2003=20
      To fully understand current conflicts in the Middle East, history =
must be recalled. Acknowledged by the United Nations and the civilized =
community of nations, Israel became a recognized and sovereign state on =
May 14, 1948. Immediately, the five armies of Egypt, Syria, Transjordan =
(which was renamed Jordan one year later, in 1949), Lebanon and Iraq =
invaded the fledgling country. Their combined intention, celebrated =
enthusiastically all over the Arab world, was expressed plainly and =
publicly by Azzam Pasha, Secretary-General of the Arab League: "This =
will be a war of extermination and a momentous massacre, which will be =
spoken of like the Mongolian massacres and the Crusades."=20

      Hence, scarcely a few years after the Holocaust and resultant =
identification of Crimes Against Humanity, the intent of these Arab =
states toward the tiny new State of Israel was openly genocidal.=20

      On May 15, 1967, Israel's nineteenth Independence Day, Egyptian =
troops began moving openly into the Sinai, massing aggressively near the =
Israeli border. By May 18, Syrian troops, too, were preparing for battle =
along the Golan Heights, almost 3000 feet above the Galilee, from which =
they had been shelling Israel's farms and villages for several years.=20

      Egypt's Gamal Abd el-Nasser ordered the U.N. Emergency Force =
(UNEF), stationed in the Sinai since 1956, to withdraw. After the =
withdrawal of UNEF, the Voice of the Arabs proclaimed, on May 18, 1967: =
"As of today there no longer exists an international emergency force to =
protect Israel. We shall exercise patience no more. We shall not =
complain any more to the U.N. about Israel. The sole method we shall =
apply against Israel is total war, which will result in the =
extermination of Zionist existence."=20

      Two days later, a jubilant echo came from Hafez Assad, then the =
Syrian Defense Minister: "Our forces are now entirely ready... to =
initiate the act of liberation itself, and to explode the Zionist =
presence in the Arab homeland.... The time has come to enter into a =
battle of annihilation."=20

      President Abd ur-Rahman Aref of Iraq joined the chorus of =
genocidal threats: "The existence of Israel is an error which must be =
rectified. This is our opportunity to wipe out the ignominy which has =
been with us since 1948. Our goal is clear - to wipe Israel off the =
map."=20

      Today, in early autumn 2003, this goal remains fixed and =
unchanged. Significantly, the goal remains nothing less than another =
Jewish genocide. Arab terrorism, as a complementary strategy of =
attrition, is consciously directed at the very same goal.=20

      With particular reference to the Palestinians, the Charter of =
Hamas - the Islamic Resistance Movement - exclaims proudly: "There is no =
solution to the Palestinian problem except by Jihad... In order to face =
the usurpation of Palestine by the Jews, we have no escape from raising =
the banner of Jihad.... We must imprint on the minds of generations of =
Muslims that the Palestinian problem is a religious one, to be dealt =
with on this premise.... =91I swear by He who holds in His Hands the =
Soul of Muhammad: I indeed wish to go to war for the sake of Allah! I =
promise to assault and kill, assault and kill, assault and kill.=92=94=20

      Arab/Islamic plans for genocidal extermination of Israel have =
never been kept secret, perhaps because these plans don't really disturb =
the rest of the world. With rampant anti-Semitism again in fashion, =
especially in civilized Europe, few seem to recall that, prior to 1967 - =
when all Arabs were already screaming for Israel's "annihilation" and =
"liquidation" - there were no "Palestinian territories" under Israeli =
control. Exactly what was the Palestine Liberation Organization, and the =
Arab world in general, seeking to "liberate" between 1948 and 1967, when =
Gaza was held illegally by Egypt and Judea/Samaria (West Bank) by =
Jordan?=20

      There is no viable "Road Map" peace process with Arab states or a =
"Palestinian Authority" today, nor has there ever been such a process. =
The formal treaties extant between Israel and Egypt and Israel and =
Jordan are little more than a temporary expedient by the Arab parties to =
buy time for critical rearmament and doctrinal refinement.=20

      Even before Israel's declaration of statehood in 1948, the Grand =
Mufti of Jerusalem, on November 28, 1941, met in Berlin with Adolph =
Hitler (even today a great hero in the Arab world). The subject of Haj =
Amin's meeting with Hitler was "...the final solution of the Jewish =
Question." Further, this meeting, which followed Haj Amin's active =
organization of Muslim SS troops in Bosnia, included the Mufti's promise =
to aid Nazi Germany in the War. Haj Amin did everything possible to =
ensure Hitler's success with the Final Solution. He even urged the =
foreign ministers of the Lesser Axis Powers (Italy, Romania, Bulgaria) =
not to permit Jews to leave for Palestine.=20

      It was essential, Haj Amin asserted, that Jews be sent to =
countries "...where they would find themselves under active control, for =
example, in Poland, in order to protect oneself from their menace and =
avoid consequent damage." The Haj, who was in regular contact with both =
Himmler and Eichmann, knew exactly what "active control" in Poland meant =
during the summer of 1943.=20

      Now the Arab world seeks "active control" in Israel itself. =
Preparing for genocidal war against Israel with developing weapons of =
mass destruction, the Arab states - together with the Palestinians - =
argue repeatedly that the post-Holocaust concentration of Jews in "the =
Zionist entity" is proof of Allah's plan to make Jewish annihilation =
more practicable. Hence, the state created by the Jews to prevent =
another Holocaust is described by Israel's genocidal enemies as the =
literal means to create another Holocaust. Moreover, unless all people =
of good will begin to recognize and understand this inversion of =
Israel's purpose, Israel could indeed become the Arab/Islamic world's =
Final Solution to the Jewish Question. This bitter irony is so =
overwhelming and terrible that it is almost unutterable, but it cannot =
be disregarded.=20

      Let us all listen to the following: For all believing Muslims, =
according to both Hamas and the Palestinian National Authority, =
"...peace with Israel was and still remains nothing less than a poison =
threatening the life-blood of Islam.... The Prophet is said to have =
predicted a final war to annihilate the Jews. Muhammad had stated: =
=91The hour (i.e., salvation) will not come until you fight against the =
Jews; and the stone would say, =93O Muslim! There is a Jew behind me; =
come and kill him.=94=92=94=20

      Attention must be paid. Preventing the crime of genocide must =
become more than a sterile codification of international law. History =
must be recalled.=20

      <P><FONT color=3D#800000 size=3D+2>A</FONT>merica's next battle in =
the war on=20
      terrorism should be fought against the PLO and its founder, the =
godfather=20
      of world terrorism, Yasser Arafat. Israel cannot win its war =
against=20
      terrorism alone. Israel has no silver bullet to dispatch the PLO =
network=20
      being fed by the Islamic world, but America does: It alone can =
shut off=20
      the economic support that pours in weekly by the millions.=20
      <P>Arafat and his PLO organization have been working all summer in =
an=20
      attempt to discredit President Bush's peace plan as irrelevant. =
Why?=20
      President Bush labeled Arafat as "irrelevant." It appears that =
Arafat is=20
      succeeding.=20
      <P>The PLO is still considered the legitimate representative of =
the=20
      Palestinian people ... an amazing feat to have a terrorist =
organization=20
      demanding a state. Arafat has played the terrorism card, and has =
utilized=20
      Hamas and Islamic Jihad as his weapons of choice. Now, he is =
calling for=20
      the appointment of a new interior minister in charge of his =
security=20
      forces. This post was formerly held by Mahmoud Abbas. This would =
give=20
      Arafat a bigger voice in negotiations. All key decisions would =
have to be=20
      referred to him for approval.=20
      <P>All the terrorist organizations and terrorist-harboring nations =
have=20
      one thing in common: They all support PLO terrorism. Islamic =
dictatorships=20
      throughout the world stir up their masses by justifying terrorism =
in the=20
      name of the PLO cause, rather than dealing with their own =
shortcomings.=20
      They have brainwashed their populations into believing the West, =
in=20
      general, and Israel, specifically, is the root of all of their =
problems.=20
      <P>Israel is the only nation in modern times that has been =
pressured to=20
      give a terrorist organization part of its territory. But despite =
Israel's=20
      attempts to comply, it has suffered more terrorism per capita than =
any=20
      nation on Earth, while PLO-controlled territory has become a world =

      distribution center for the exportation of the H-bomb (human =
bomb.)=20
      <P>PLO terrorism is not about land. If it were, then the PLO would =
have=20
      accepted the Barak-Clinton Camp David proposal. It's about =
eradicating=20
      Zionism and the Jewish state. Its strategy of using terrorism as a =
tool to=20
      achieve its goals has never changed. America has put pressure on =
Arafat to=20
      control terrorism, and for brief interludes terrorism decreased=20
      drastically. This proves one thing: If Arafat can curb terrorism =
he can=20
      also incite terrorism. And while he was recently turning down the =
flame of=20
      terrorism, he used the time to organize a shipment of some 50 tons =
of=20
      armaments on the Karine A.=20
      <P>In an article in the New York Times on Feb. 3, Arafat stated, =
"To stop=20
      terrorism, we must understand that terrorism is simply a symptom, =
not the=20
      disease." That logic contradicts the entire Bush Doctrine on =
America's war=20
      against terrorism ... that there is no justification for terror.=20
      <P>If Americans buy into Arafat's premise, it will mean a =
protracted ride=20
      on the back of the terror tiger. Any attempt to root out global =
terrorism=20
      without plowing the soil in which it grows will only spread the =
virus more=20
      quickly. As long as Arafat lionizes suicide bombers as martyrs, =
the Jihad=20
      genie will stay unbottled. Arafat, who has compared himself to =
George=20
      Washington, can denounce terrorism because he has redefined its =
meaning.=20
      <P>Arafat's "gift" is in destroying states =96 as he tried to do =
in Jordan=20
      and Lebanon in the '70s and '80s =96 not building one. If Arafat =
were truly=20
      loved by the Palestinian people, thousands of Palestinians would =
not have=20
      fled his regime to become American citizens. The truth is, Arafat =
is a=20
      dictator and a terrorist who has been instrumental in killing even =
more=20
      Palestinians than he has Jews.=20
      <P>Israel cannot mobilize a global coalition to see that a =
terrorist like=20
      Arafat who has killed innocent civilians throughout the world =96 =
including=20
      dozens of Americans =96 is extradited and brought to justice, but =
America=20
      can.=20

      <H3>2. &nbsp;&nbsp;<A name=3D2>WE CANNOT COMPROMISE WITH =
EVIL</A></H3>by Jon=20
      Alvarez - September 3, 2003=20
      <P><FONT color=3D#800000 size=3D+2>T</FONT>he other night I had to =
take a=20
      break from watching the news. The footage of the young victims of =
the=20
      latest bus bombing in Israel was especially disturbing and was =
causing my=20
      blood pressure to rise. So I decided to watch the old film =
MacArthur,=20
      starring Gregory Peck. As I watched this film, I was amazed at how =
General=20
      MacArthur's words, spoken nearly fifty years ago, still ring true =
today.=20
      <P>MacArthur was a strong leader, filled with conviction and=20
      determination. This seemed to alienate many who seemed to be quite =
jealous=20
      of his popularity in this country. Sound familiar? In his battle =
versus=20
      communist China and North Korea, political enemies, too, hindered =
him in=20
      his quest for victory. Sounds familiar, right? In many ways, =
President=20
      Bush is in the same situation General MacArthur was over fifty =
years ago.=20
      <P>MacArthur also said something that really seemed to stand out. =
He=20
      stated, "We cannot compromise with evil". Truer words have never =
been=20
      spoken. Fifty years later, we are still battling not only with =
evil, but=20
      those within our country who are willing to compromise with evil.=20
      <P>In light of the bombings in Israel and Iraq, it should be =
perfectly=20
      clear that there is no reasoning with terrorists. Yet, were one to =
tune in=20
      to any news broadcast, you'd hear politicians and news analysts =
calling=20
      for Israel to exercise restraint, while her citizens are being =
targeted=20
      for murder. When will the lesson be learned that we cannot =
compromise with=20
      evil? How many innocent children are to be slaughtered by radical =
Muslims=20
      before enough is enough? It is time to either unleash Israel or to =
join=20
      them in destroying Hamas, Hezbollah and other like-minded =
terrorist=20
      groups, as well as their supporters within the governments of =
Syria and=20
      Iran.=20
      <P>To achieve peace in the Middle East, the terrorist-supporting =
regimes=20
      in Syria and Iran must be destroyed. That is the true =93road map =
to peace=94.=20
      Syria should be held responsible for Hamas and the attacks against =
Israel.=20
      Has Syria done what Powell told them to do in Damascus with =
regards to=20
      Hamas? No. Iran is backing the attacks by terrorists in Iraq and =
is on the=20
      verge of obtaining nuclear weapons. It is time to act, before it =
is too=20
      late. In both instances, the =93road map=94 and the war on terror =
are=20
      interconnected, as they were in Iraq. America and the world are =
both safer=20
      today because Saddam Hussein is no longer in a position to sponsor =

      terrorism.=20
      <P>Getting back to MacArthur. History has proven that MacArthur =
was right.=20
      50 years later, North Korea is still around and is currently =
resorting to=20
      nuclear blackmail. Compromise has not solved anything on the =
Korean=20
      peninsula; it has only exacerbated the situation. Let's look at =
what=20
      MacArthur told Congress in 1951 after he was relieved of command:=20
      <BLOCKQUOTE>=93There are those who claim our strength is =
inadequate to=20
        protect on both fronts, that we cannot divide our effort. I can =
think of=20
        no greater expression of defeatism.=20
        <P>=93If a potential enemy can divide his strength on two =
fronts, it is=20
        for us to counter his efforts. The Communist threat is a global =
one. Its=20
        successful advance in one sector threatens the destruction of =
every=20
        other sector. You cannot appease or otherwise surrender to =
Communism in=20
        Asia without simultaneously undermining our efforts to halt its =
advance=20
        in Europe...=20
        <P>=93There are some who for varying reasons would appease Red =
China. They=20
        are blind to history's clear lesson; for history teaches with=20
        unmistakable emphasis that appeasement but begets new and =
bloodier war.=20
        It points to no single instance where this end has justified =
that means,=20
        where appeasement had led to more than a sham peace...=20
        <P>=93Like blackmail, it lays the basis for new and successively =
greater=20
        demands until, as in blackmail, violence becomes the only=20
        alternative.=94</P></BLOCKQUOTE>Not only was General MacArthur =
correct in=20
      his assessment of dealing with the threat of Communism, but the =
dangers of=20
      appeasement as well. Some critics argue that we cannot fight on =
more than=20
      one front. That did not stop us during WWII, when we had to do so. =
This is=20
      America; we can do anything we put our minds to.=20
      <P>We are once again at a crossroads in history. We not only have =
a=20
      threat, once again, from North Korea, but from terrorism as well. =
Will we=20
      rise up to the challenge? MacArthur believed that we could not, =
and should=20
      not, compromise with evil. History confirms this as a truism. Just =
look at=20
      Nazi Germany for further evidence of how compromise and =
appeasement failed=20
      and how, ultimately, force had to be used to defeat evil. Examine =
the=20
      situation in North Korea fifty years later; the threat is still =
there and=20
      has become much worse.=20
      <P>Can we afford to deal with terrorism in the same manner? =
General=20
      MacArthur would say no.=20

      <H3>3. &nbsp;&nbsp;<A name=3D3>WHO SUPPORTS ISRAEL?</A></H3>by =
Daniel Pipes=20
      - National Post - September 5, 2003=20
      <P><FONT color=3D#800000 size=3D+2>'I</FONT> have developed a =
habit," writes=20
      Richard Ingrams, a columnist for The Guardian, a far-left British=20
      newspaper, "when confronted by letters to the editor in support of =
the=20
      Israeli government to look at the signature to see if the writer =
has a=20
      Jewish name. If so, I tend not to read it."=20
      <P>This shameful passage raised a small storm in Britain over=20
      anti-Semitism. But what about Ingrams' implicit assumption that =
Jews=20
      uniformly support the Sharon government?=20
      <P>At first glance, this might seem accurate. Israeli Jews voted =
Ariel=20
      Sharon into power and the leading diaspora Jewish organizations =
generally=20
      take their cues from Jerusalem. But a closer look reveals the =
assumption=20
      to be nonsense, as Jews are among Sharon's (and Israel's) most =
vehement=20
      and vocal critics.=20
      <P>The academic campaign to delegitimize Israel presents a =
striking=20
      example of this, for Jewish faculty have lead the effort. Noam =
Chomsky=20
      started and other Jews picked up the pressure on American =
university=20
      administrators to withdraw investments from Israel. In Britain, =
Steven and=20
      Hilary Rose initiated an academic boycott against Israel; John =
Docker had=20
      a similar role in Australia. Among Middle East specialists, Joel =
Beinin,=20
      Ian Lustick, Sara Roy, and Avi Shlaim lead the anti-Sharon charge. =

      <P>Authors such as Norman Finkelstein, Thomas Friedman, Michael =
Lerner,=20
      Arthur Miller, and Susan Sontag are outspoken critics. Lawyer =
Stanley=20
      Cohen specializes in representing the enemies of Israel. British =
MP Oona=20
      King states that "in escaping the ashes of the Holocaust, =
[Israelis] have=20
      incarcerated another people in a hell similar in its nature -- =
though not=20
      its extent -- to the Warsaw ghetto." The president of the World =
Jewish=20
      Congress, Edgar Bronfman, clashes publicly with the Sharon =
government. One=20
      compilation lists 65 predominantly Jewish or Israeli anti-Sharon =
groups.=20
      <P>In short, Jews -- especially the intellectuals among them -- do =
not=20
      uniformly support Sharon.=20
      <P>There is, however, another group that does predictably support =
Israel:=20
      conservatives. And, no less predictably, the Left opposes Israel. =
While=20
      there are plenty of exceptions, this pattern has wide validity. =
Some=20
      examples:=20
      <BLOCKQUOTE>- A conservative like U.S. House Majority Leader Tom =
DeLay=20
        speaks of the "common destiny of the United States and Israel" =
and the=20
        "heartfelt friendship between the citizens of two democracies at =
war,=20
        bound by the solidarity of freedom." In contrast, a far-leftist =
like the=20
        writer Kirkpatrick Sale considers the idea of a Jewish state "a =
mistake"=20
        and explicitly proposes the time has come "to ask whether the=20
        50-year-old experiment known as the state of Israel has proven =
to be a=20
        failure and should be abandoned."=20
        <P>- Britain's Labour Prime Minister, Tony Blair, hosted a =
conference in=20
        early 2003 on the Arab-Israeli conflict and did not bother to =
invite=20
        Israelis; he also ostentatiously snubbed Israel's foreign =
minister. In=20
        reply, Conservative Party Leader Iain Duncan Smith criticized =
Blair for=20
        "fiddling with pointless conferences while suicide bombers are=20
        malignantly burning their way through Israel" and he berated =
Blair for=20
        "giving support" to Yasser Arafat while refusing to see the =
Israeli=20
        foreign minister.=20
        <P>- It was primarily conservatives in the European Parliament =
who=20
        pushed for a parliamentary committee of inquiry into the =
possible misuse=20
        of the European Union's monthly =A310-million stipend to the =
Palestinian=20
        Authority for support of terrorism. Ethnicity and religion =
certainly=20
        play a role in shaping attitudes but ideas matter more. One =
telling=20
        symbol of this was in 1998, when The Nation magazine called on a =
leftist=20
        Jew (Andrew N. Rubin) to savage a book by a conservative Muslim =
(Fouad=20
        Ajami) for being too friendly to Israel.</P></BLOCKQUOTE>In many =
other=20
      countries, as Charlotte West observes, Israel also finds its most =
solid=20
      support among conservatives; Australia, Canada, France, Italy come =
to=20
      mind.=20
      <P>This is a new development. Twenty years ago, liberal or =
conservative=20
      outlooks had little bearing on one's views of Israel or other =
Middle East=20
      issues. During the Cold War, Middle Eastern problems stood largely =
outside=20
      the great debate of that era -- policy toward the Soviet Union -- =
so views=20
      of the Arab-Israeli conflict, Iraq, militant Islam, and other =
topics were=20
      formed in isolation from larger principles.=20
      <P>Today, all that has changed. The Middle East has replaced the =
Soviet=20
      Union as the touchstone of politics and ideology. With increasing =

      conservatives stand on one side of its issues and liberals on the =

      later, in 1949), Lebanon and Iraq invaded the fledgling country. =
Their=20
      combined intention, celebrated enthusiastically all over the Arab =
world,=20
      was expressed plainly and publicly by Azzam Pasha, =
Secretary-General of=20
      the Arab League: "This will be a war of extermination and a =
momentous=20
      massacre, which will be spoken of like the Mongolian massacres and =
the=20
      Crusades."=20
      <P>Hence, scarcely a few years after the Holocaust and resultant=20
      identification of Crimes Against Humanity, the intent of these =
Arab states=20
      toward the tiny new State of Israel was openly genocidal.=20
      <P>On May 15, 1967, Israel's nineteenth Independence Day, Egyptian =
troops=20
      began moving openly into the Sinai, massing aggressively near the =
Israeli=20
      border. By May 18, Syrian troops, too, were preparing for battle =
along the=20
      Golan Heights, almost 3000 feet above the Galilee, from which they =
had=20
      been shelling Israel's farms and villages for several years.=20
      <P>Egypt's Gamal Abd el-Nasser ordered the U.N. Emergency Force =
(UNEF),=20
      stationed in the Sinai since 1956, to withdraw. After the =
withdrawal of=20
      UNEF, the Voice of the Arabs proclaimed, on May 18, 1967: "As of =
today=20
      there no longer exists an international emergency force to protect =
Israel.=20
      We shall exercise patience no more. We shall not complain any more =
to the=20
      U.N. about Israel. The sole method we shall apply against Israel =
is total=20
      war, which will result in the extermination of Zionist existence." =

      <P>Two days later, a jubilant echo came from Hafez Assad, then the =
Syrian=20
      Defense Minister: "Our forces are now entirely ready... to =
initiate the=20
      act of liberation itself, and to explode the Zionist presence in =
the Arab=20
      homeland.... The time has come to enter into a battle of =
annihilation."=20
      <P>President Abd ur-Rahman Aref of Iraq joined the chorus of =
genocidal=20
      threats: "The existence of Israel is an error which must be =
rectified.=20
      This is our opportunity to wipe out the ignominy which has been =
with us=20
      since 1948. Our goal is clear - to wipe Israel off the map."=20
      <P>Today, in early autumn 2003, this goal remains fixed and =
unchanged.=20
      Significantly, the goal remains nothing less than another Jewish =
genocide.=20
      Arab terrorism, as a complementary strategy of attrition, is =
consciously=20
      directed at the very same goal.=20
      <P>With particular reference to the Palestinians, the Charter of =
Hamas -=20
      the Islamic Resistance Movement - exclaims proudly: "There is no =
solution=20
      to the Palestinian problem except by Jihad... In order to face the =

      usurpation of Palestine by the Jews, we have no escape from =
raising the=20
      banner of Jihad.... We must imprint on the minds of generations of =
Muslims=20
      that the Palestinian problem is a religious one, to be dealt with =
on this=20
      premise.... =91I swear by He who holds in His Hands the Soul of =
Muhammad: I=20
      indeed wish to go to war for the sake of Allah! I promise to =
assault and=20
      kill, assault and kill, assault and kill.=92=94=20
      <P>Arab/Islamic plans for genocidal extermination of Israel have =
never=20
      been kept secret, perhaps because these plans don't really disturb =
the=20
      rest of the world. With rampant anti-Semitism again in fashion, =
especially=20
      in civilized Europe, few seem to recall that, prior to 1967 - when =
all=20
      Arabs were already screaming for Israel's "annihilation" and =
"liquidation"=20
      - there were no "Palestinian territories" under Israeli control. =
Exactly=20
      what was the Palestine Liberation Organization, and the Arab world =
in=20
      general, seeking to "liberate" between 1948 and 1967, when Gaza =
was held=20
      illegally by Egypt and Judea/Samaria (West Bank) by Jordan?=20
      <P>There is no viable "Road Map" peace process with Arab states or =
a=20
      "Palestinian Authority" today, nor has there ever been such a =
process. The=20
      formal treaties extant between Israel and Egypt and Israel and =
Jordan are=20
      little more than a temporary expedient by the Arab parties to buy =
time for=20
      critical rearmament and doctrinal refinement.=20
      <P>Even before Israel's declaration of statehood in 1948, the =
Grand Mufti=20
      of Jerusalem, on November 28, 1941, met in Berlin with Adolph =
Hitler (even=20
      today a great hero in the Arab world). The subject of Haj Amin's =
meeting=20
      with Hitler was "...the final solution of the Jewish Question." =
Further,=20
      this meeting, which followed Haj Amin's active organization of =
Muslim SS=20
      troops in Bosnia, included the Mufti's promise to aid Nazi Germany =
in the=20
      War. Haj Amin did everything possible to ensure Hitler's success =
with the=20
      Final Solution. He even urged the foreign ministers of the Lesser =
Axis=20
      Powers (Italy, Romania, Bulgaria) not to permit Jews to leave for=20
      Palestine.=20
      <P>It was essential, Haj Amin asserted, that Jews be sent to =
countries=20
      "...where they would find themselves under active control, for =
example, in=20
      Poland, in order to protect oneself from their menace and avoid =
consequent=20
      damage." The Haj, who was in regular contact with both Himmler and =

      Eichmann, knew exactly what "active control" in Poland meant =
during the=20
      summer of 1943.=20
      <P>Now the Arab world seeks "active control" in Israel itself. =
Preparing=20
      for genocidal war against Israel with developing weapons of mass=20
      destruction, the Arab states - together with the Palestinians - =
argue=20
      repeatedly that the post-Holocaust concentration of Jews in "the =
Zionist=20
      entity" is proof of Allah's plan to make Jewish annihilation more=20
      practicable. Hence, the state created by the Jews to prevent =
another=20
      Holocaust is described by Israel's genocidal enemies as the =
literal means=20
      to create another Holocaust. Moreover, unless all people of good =
will=20
      begin to recognize and understand this inversion of Israel's =
purpose,=20
      Israel could indeed become the Arab/Islamic world's Final Solution =
to the=20
      Jewish Question. This bitter irony is so overwhelming and terrible =
that it=20
      is almost unutterable, but it cannot be disregarded.=20
      <P>Let us all listen to the following: For all believing Muslims,=20
      according to both Hamas and the Palestinian National Authority, =
"...peace=20
      with Israel was and still remains nothing less than a poison =
threatening=20
      the life-blood of Islam.... The Prophet is said to have predicted =
a final=20
      war to annihilate the Jews. Muhammad had stated: =91The hour =
(i.e.,=20
      salvation) will not come until you fight against the Jews; and the =
stone=20
      would say, =93O Muslim! There is a Jew behind me; come and kill =
him.=94=92=94=20
      <P>Attention must be paid. Preventing the crime of genocide must =
become=20
      more than a sterile codification of international law. History =
must be=20
      recalled.=20
