1. THE FRUITS OF BARTERING HIS LAND=20

"'And you shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this =
land...' But you have not obeyed My voice. Why have you done this? =
Therefore I also said, 'I will not drive them out before you; but they =
shall be thorns in your side...'" (Judges 2:2-3)=20
The Word of God rings as true today as ever it has, as Palestinian =
terrorist forces, openly declaring their intent to destroy the Jewish =
people in their land, are pandered to and offered treaties by none other =
than the leaders of Israel. We see the relevance of this passage =
manifested again in the barbaric slaughter of 23 innocent lives by two =
Palestinian genocide bombers Sunday evening in Tel Aviv.=20
The attack, which also wounded over 100 persons, reportedly came =
without any intelligence warning, and was the first successful major =
terror attack against Israelis in more than six weeks.=20
Even so, Israeli security officials stress that despite the recent =
relative quiet, the number of actual terror alerts pouring in has in no =
way diminished since the horrible carnage in the summer of 2002.=20
"There is an unceasing effort by the terrorist organizations to =
carry out attacks," Defense Minister Sha'ul Mofaz was quoted as saying =
at the emergency security cabinet meeting following the Tel Aviv attack. =
Israel's internal security organization and military intelligence =
branch were still reporting 30-40 specific warnings of impending =
terrorist attacks each week.=20
That number remains unchanged from the summer months, when far =
more attempted terrorist attacks were meeting with success.=20
The security establishment has hailed the IDF's current =
reoccupation of most Palestinian populations centers - which double as =
Palestinian terrorist bases - as the reason for the terrorists' lagging =
success rate.=20
Indeed, prior to the army's long-term incursion into =
Palestinian-controlled areas nearly two months ago, the deaths of =
several Israelis at the hands of murderous terrorist forces each week =
had become a common occurrence.=20
Ongoing IDF anti-terror operations have seen the arrest of about =
1,800 suspected terrorists since September, as well as the elimination =
of many more, including leading terror chiefs. In some areas, the army =
reports the complete destruction of several layers of the terrorist =
infrastructure.
Notwithstanding this hard-fought success, the biblical warning =
quoted above stands as a warning against the, in many ways, =
half-measures being taken by an Israel that chooses to dilute security =
needs with diplomatic considerations, at the cost of its people's lives. =
The Palestinian terrorist threat will continue to loom over =
Israelis' heads until its infrastructure has been permanently =
eradicated, just as Washington had to destroy the Al Qaeda =
infrastructure in Afghanistan before it could install a relatively =
stable leadership in that terrorized country.=20
Perhaps even more to the point, the biblical warning addresses the =
fact that indiscriminate Arab terror will persist in plaguing the Jewish =
people for as long as they use the land God calls His own to try and buy =
a false "peace" with those who set against His ownership and stated =
will.=20
Sunday's attack should also be seen in this light, all the more so =
following reports out of New York late Friday that the government of =
Prime Minister Ariel Sharon is involved in secret talks with Palestinian =
leaders intended to pave the way for the creation in Israel's heartland =
of another Muslim Arab state.=20

2. THE ROAD TO PERDITION=20

In the Hagadda, the story which Jews read on Passover, it is =
written:=20
"For not one only has risen up against us, but in every =
generation some have risen to annihilate us, but the Most Holy, blessed =
be He, has delivered us out of their hands."
In the last century, the Nazis thought they were going to succeed =
in what they planned as the Final Solution of the Jewish Problem, the =
complete extermination of the Jewish People. In this new century, our =
enemies, the Russian Federation, the United Nations, the European Union, =
and the US State Department have conceived of a plan, which will finally =
put an end to the dangerous ideas of those pesky Jews, to return once =
again to the land which they keep insisting some deity promised them =
long ago. Not only that, but these Jews actually have the audacity to =
build their homes in Judea, Samaria and Gaza, where, they claim, =
remnants of synagogues thousands of years old are proof positive that =
this is their land.=20
Okay, the nations of the world say, that was then, this is now. =
Therefore, these nations of the world have come up with a "Road Map to =
Permanent Two-State Solution to the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict".=20
* Natan Sharanski calls this plan "a Road Map that leads straight =
back to Oslo".=20
* The Jerusalem Post, in an editorial of October 24, 2002, calls =
it a "Road Map to misery".=20
* Caroline Glick, Jerusalem Post columnist, calls it a "Roadway to =
perdition".=20
I think that Israel is being sold out. The Russians, the United =
Nations, the European Union and the US State Department are effectively =
ganging up against Israel. All the signs are there. Last year, a French =
Ambassador to England described Israel as feces. A Saudi newspaper =97 =
controlled, of course, by the Saudi government =96 wrote that Jews make =
holiday pastry with human blood. Tony Blair, supposedly America=B4s main =
partner in the war against terror, invites the mass murderer Assad of =
Syria to 10 Downing Street for a cozy chat about Israel, the only =
obstacle to peace in the Middle East. The British Queen invites this =
murderer Assad for tea and crumpets in her palace. And the head of the =
US State Department, Secretary of State Colin Powell, makes a remark =
that reveals his admiration of Yasser Arafat: "One man=B4s terrorist is =
another man=B4s freedom fighter."=20
Yes, the signs are all there. As A. M. Rosenthal, formerly one of =
the editors of the New York Times, said in an article in the New York =
Daily News on April 5, 2002, entitled "Ignore Hate Today, Die Tomorrow", =
Jews and Christians have been deceiving themselves that the most violent =
and virulent anti-Semitism campaign since Hitler has involved only =
Muslim states. "The noise and stench of hatred are soiling us again, not =
just from Muslim countries, but from lands we consider our friends," he =
wrote, "Jews, listen and you will hear the sound of breaking glass."=20
Lately, I have been hearing the sound of breaking glass again. I =
was a small child at the time of Kristallnacht in Austria in November of =
1938, 64 years ago. No, the Nazis didn=B4t break the glass of the =
windows of our home. They knew that would be pointless, since our home =
was to be given in good condition to one of the party faithful. They =
did, however, break all the windows of our synagogue, where they had =
herded all the town=B4s Jews. I remember two things very clearly, being =
terribly cold and so, so hungry. The cold November winds blowing through =
the broken windows chilled us to the bones as we huddled together on the =
stone floor. In addition, we were very hungry. They did serve us food. A =
meat stew that smelled heavenly. But of course, as Jews, we could not =
eat a stew made with pork. With their fiendish sense of humor, they had =
put in large chunks of pork to teach us to eat what "normal" people eat. =
This is just a small example of the Nazis=B4 hatred and cruelty toward =
Jews. My brother and sister and I were fortunate to escape on a =
Kindertransport to Sweden. My parents were also miraculously saved by =
illegally crossing the Italian border, though they endured great =
hardship during the war years. Most of the people, however, who were =
herded into that synagogue together with us on Kristallnacht, perished =
in the Holocaust.=20
I think this is the reason why I stopped doing what I really love =
to do, which is designing beautiful jewelry and Judaica. Instead, my =
Belgian-born daughter-in-law, Nadia, and I founded the organization =
Women for Israel=B4s Tomorrow (Women in Green). Sadly, most of Nadia=B4s =
family in Belgium was also killed in the Holocaust. Both Nadia and I =
were intent from the very beginning to fight those accursed Oslo Accords =
with all our strength. Nadia, of course, was not born at the time of =
Kristallnacht. But, she can well imagine the sound of breaking glass =
that her family heard before they were transported to the Nazi death =
camps.=20
In my opinion, this Road Map will surely lead us down the road to =
another Holocaust, unless we are able to stop the evil designs of our =
enemies.=20
We cannot afford to sit around and say, "Well, what can we do =
about it?" German Jews asked themselves the same question while the =
Nazis were coming to power. Then, they couldn=B4t even ask the question, =
because they were being shot, gassed and strangled. Dissemination of =
Jew-hate is a prelude to suicide terror just as certainly as making the =
bomb is the prelude to detonating it.=20
After meeting with the members of the Quartet to discuss the =
so-called Road Map a week ago, US President George W. Bush said, "I view =
the Road Map as a part of the vision that I described, it is a way =
forward."=20
A way forward? President Bush should realize that the "Quartet" =
plan is a stacked deck against Israel and the United States. A =
prescription for disaster that will have the effect of undermining both =
countries=B4 security interests. Can President Bush be unaware that his =
policy is being fundamentally undermined =97 not least by a member of =
his own cabinet?=20
In Israel today, in America tomorrow.=20
The following quotation by the Philosopher Martin Niemoller is =
written at the entrance of Yad Vashem, the Holocaust memorial in =
Jerusalem, and is very relevant today:=20
"In Germany, they first came for the Communists, and I didn=B4t =
speak up because I wasn=B4t a Communist. Then they came for the Jews, =
and I didn=B4t speak up because I wasn=B4t a Jew. Then they came for the =
trade unionists, and I didn=B4t speak up because I wasn=B4t a trade =
unionist. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn=B4t speak up =
because I wasn=B4t a Catholic. Then they came for me, and by that time =
there was nobody left to speak up."

3. ISRAELI RESTRAINT MAKES TERRORISM MORE LIKELY=20

Even by the grim standards of recent years, the suicide bombings =
in Tel Aviv this week were horrific.=20
The terrorists, members of the Al-Aqsa Martyr's Brigade (a wing of =
Yasser Arafat's Fatah organization), positioned themselves at opposite =
ends of a busy street and blew themselves up 30 seconds apart. That was =
to guarantee the maximum number of casualties - as terrified pedestrians =
fled the first explosion, many ran directly toward the bomber waiting to =
set off the second.=20
The attack resulted in the death of 22 civilians and wounded more =
than 100, many of whom will be maimed for life: The bombs were packed =
with nails and metal shards so that shrapnel would shred skin and =
muscle, leaving survivors with agonizing internal injuries.=20
It was the third worst terror attack in Israel in the past =
quarter-century, and Arafat's spokesman issued a statement in English =
expressing ''total condemnation of these terrorist attacks against =
Israeli civilians.''=20
But at about the same time, the Fatah Web site posted another =
statement - in Arabic - celebrating the attacks:=20
''With faith in the calling of holy jihad,'' it said, ''two =
suicide attackers... succeeded this evening to infiltrate the Zionist =
roadblocks and to enter the heart of ... Tel Aviv and carried out two =
consecutive suicide attacks.... These suicide attacks caused a large =
number of fatalities and casualties in the center of the Zionist =
occupation of our land. We swear before our people that additional =
suicide operations will occur.''=20
Note the description of Tel Aviv, a city founded by Jews in 1909 =
and laid out on the empty sand dunes north of Jaffa: ''the center of the =
Zionist occupation.'' To Fatah - which is to say, to Arafat and the =
Palestinian leadership - the borders of the ''occupation'' are not those =
of Gaza or the West Bank. They are the borders of Israel.=20
Similarly, ArabicNews.com datelined its story on the Tel Aviv =
attack ''Palestine-Israel,'' and reported that the bombings had killed =
''23 Israeli settlers.'' This despite the fact that none of the dead =
were residents of the settlements. Nearly one-third, in fact, weren't =
Israeli at all; they were non-Jewish guest workers from Europe, China, =
and Africa.=20
Israel reacted to Sunday's slaughter not with a devastating =
military assault on Palestinian positions but with mere gestures: Combat =
helicopters fired on a weapons factory in Gaza, Palestinian delegates =
were barred from traveling to a conference in London, and some West Bank =
colleges were temporarily closed.=20
But mere gestures are not going to wipe out terrorism, nor are =
they going to turn Palestinian hearts and minds against the terrorists. =
Mere gestures can only feed Palestinian contempt for Israeli weakness =
and reinforce the conviction that violence pays.=20
For years now, violence has paid. In the 1970s, the PLO's =
hijackings and mass murders won it international recognition and =
attention. The mayhem of the first intifadah yielded the Oslo agreement, =
which legitimized the PLO and gave Arafat and his lieutenants a =
dictatorship in Gaza and the West Bank. The stepped-up terrorism of the =
Oslo years - the years of the grossly misnamed ''peace process'' - =
culminated in former Prime Minister Ehud Barak's astonishing offer of =
full sovereignty, dismantled settlements, and shared control of =
Jerusalem. The bloodshed inflicted by Hezbollah led to Israel's =
unilateral retreat from southern Lebanon.=20
It is no wonder that so many Palestinians believe that terror and =
violence will eventually lead to the end of Israel and the creation of a =
23d Arab state. The wonder is that Israel doesn't use its tremendous =
military power to disabuse them of that belief once and for all.=20
In fairness it must be said that Israel is not entirely free to =
act in its own best interest. It is under intense pressure from the US =
government to do nothing that might roil the Arab world in advance of =
the American invasion of Iraq. But why shouldn't Israel be permitted to =
deal with Palestinian terrorism as the United States is dealing with Al =
Qaeda? Why should Washington's plan to oust Saddam Hussein and transform =
Iraq into a democracy prevent Israel from ousting Arafat and working a =
similar transformation of Palestinian society?=20
After all, President Bush himself stressed last June that just =
such a sea change is a prerequisite for Arab-Israeli peace. Nothing is =
more crucial, he said, than replacing the cruel Arafat-Hamas regime with =
''a new and different Palestinian leadership,'' one ''not compromised by =
terror.'' Only when Palestinians can sustain, in Bush's words, ''a =
practicing democracy based on tolerance and liberty'' will it make sense =
to demand even more concessions from Israel, or to talk about =
Palestinian statehood.=20
To demand ''restraint'' of Israel now - to insist that it =
voluntarily suppress its right to self-defense - is to make bloody =
atrocities like last Sunday's not less likely but more so. Like the =
Taliban in Afghanistan, the Palestinian Authority and the murderers it =
has supported must be crushed. That is the plain meaning of the Bush =
Doctrine and the essential first step to peace.=20

4. KILL JEWS, GET YOUR OWN COUNTRY=20

Incredible - Is Israel Being Sold Out?
How does the value of an Israeli life become so cheap, that we =
accept the idea that we have to sacrifice hundreds of lives on a yearly =
basis in order to exist in the state of Israel?=20
Not many years ago, when one Israeli life was innocently lost, =
Israelis were shocked and there was a sudden hush in the atmosphere and =
wonderment in our voices. Why is it that now we think of it as an =
unavoidable sacrifice, as if there are certain questions for which there =
are just no answers? Why was the loss of an Israeli life so =
inconceivable before and so acceptable now?=20
Since the Arabs could not tolerate the presence of Jews in their =
neighborhood they tried to destroy us whenever they could put an army =
together. Every time they lost a war they couldn't understand it, and =
they couldn't believe that they wouldn't win the next war.=20
Like the Americans in Vietnam and the Russians in Afghanistan, the =
Arabs possessed such a huge advantage of resources, population and power =
that they couldn't accept the experience of defeat by the tiny state of =
Israel. As we were winning more and more victories we were paying a =
bigger price and getting more and more tired of victories in the =
battlefield at the cost of losing so many of our young Israeli lives. We =
became so weary and fearful of the next possible war, that we blinded =
ourselves into believing all the fraudulent gestures of the Arabs about =
making peace.=20
We never realized the extent of our self-delusion until Prime =
Minister Barak offered the Arabs 98% of what they demanded and we were =
answered with an avalanche of suicide bombers taking more Israeli lives =
than ever before.=20
Since then, we have become involved in futile efforts to solve the =
problem by retaliating more decisively than ever before, which has =
served as a great release from our frustrations, but it has always left =
us helpless again from the next attack from more and more suicide =
bombers. Somehow we have become helpless in the face of death as if =
there were no possible solution to this problem.=20
For the first time in fifty years we have again become a lost, =
confused, helpless and paralyzed people. Somehow we have resigned =
ourselves to suffer the constant killing of our people, like another but =
slower Holocaust. We have paralyzed ourselves by our sickening =
irrational fear of "World Opinion," which is why we find it impossible =
to face one simple fact. We will never win this war unless we =
immediately threaten to drive every Arab out of Israel if the killing =
doesn't stop.=20
It is no accident that the Arabs are not concerned with public =
opinion while killing our people, but we are terrified of public opinion =
before we dismiss them from our country. Somehow, we have become =
intimidated into believing that we are obligated to give them a place to =
live, and we have no right to throw them out just because they are =
killing our people.=20
It is about time we realize that public opinion is nothing but =
publicly expressed anti-Semitism and appeasing public opinion makes as =
much sense as Chamberlain's appeasement of Adolf Hitler. Jews dying in =
Israel disturbs them as much as watching your neighbor killing a =
cockroach, even if it doesn't fill you with pleasure you certainly don't =
feel remorse about it. That is why when suicide bombers kill hundreds of =
Jews not a word of protest is ever heard, but when we try to defend =
ourselves by retaliating against our killers the U.N. immediately is =
called in an emergency session to protect our assassins.=20
We are brain-dead if we accept the idea that we have to guess =
which Arab is our next killer. We are not obligated to victimize =
ourselves by letting the Arabs play Russian roulette with Jewish lives. =
Israelis are constantly asked the same obnoxious question " How can you =
throw the Arabs out, where would they go?" The answer is if they don't =
care whom they kill, why are we obligated to care where they go?=20
If a gang of killers lived across the street, would you allow them =
to keep throwing bombs through your window until you can find them =
another apartment? Are we morally obligated to become a real estate =
agent for every Arab suicide bomber? We are not obligated to accept a =
new, slower Holocaust as the inevitable fate of our people. Jordan did =
not take a poll of world opinion and neither did Kuwait before they =
routed the Palestinians out of their countries.=20
America did not wait for public opinion to take whatever action =
was necessary to protect their country, and there is no reason why we =
should be afraid to do what is necessary to protect the state of Israel. =

will, in effect, legitimize a Palestinian leadership compromised by =
terror. Not only has the Palestinian Authority failed to fight =

last being acknowledged for what they were. For those returning to the =
planet Earth from Fantasyland in the "Oslo" parallel universe, it =
behooves them and us all to bear in mind some of the unpleasant facts of =
life about the Middle East.=20

barbaric slaughter of 23 innocent lives by two Palestinian =
genocide=20
bombers Sunday evening in Tel Aviv.=20
<P>The attack, which also wounded over 100 persons, reportedly =
came=20
without any intelligence warning, and was the first successful =
major=20
terror attack against Israelis in more than six weeks.=20
<P>Even so, Israeli security officials stress that despite the =
recent=20
relative quiet, the number of actual terror alerts pouring in has =
in no=20
way diminished since the horrible carnage in the summer of 2002.=20
<P>"There is an unceasing effort by the terrorist organizations to =
carry=20
out attacks," Defense Minister Sha'ul Mofaz was quoted as saying =
at the=20
emergency security cabinet meeting following the Tel Aviv attack.=20
<P>Israel's internal security organization and military =
intelligence=20
branch were still reporting 30-40 specific warnings of impending =
terrorist=20
attacks each week.=20
<P>That number remains unchanged from the summer months, when far =
more=20
attempted terrorist attacks were meeting with success.=20
<P>The security establishment has hailed the IDF's current =
reoccupation of=20
most Palestinian populations centers - which double as Palestinian =
terrorist bases - as the reason for the terrorists' lagging =
success rate.=20
<P>Indeed, prior to the army's long-term incursion into=20
Palestinian-controlled areas nearly two months ago, the deaths of =
several=20
Israelis at the hands of murderous terrorist forces each week had =
become a=20
common occurrence.=20
<P>Ongoing IDF anti-terror operations have seen the arrest of =
about 1,800=20
suspected terrorists since September, as well as the elimination =
of many=20
more, including leading terror chiefs. In some areas, the army =

complete destruction of several layers of the terrorist =

<P>Notwithstanding this hard-fought success, the biblical warning =

above stands as a warning against the, in many ways, half-measures =

taken by an Israel that chooses to dilute security needs with =

considerations, at the cost of its people's lives.=20
<P>The Palestinian terrorist threat will continue to loom over =
Israelis'=20
heads until its infrastructure has been permanently eradicated, =
just as=20
Washington had to destroy the Al Qaeda infrastructure in =

before it could install a relatively stable leadership in that =

<P>Perhaps even more to the point, the biblical warning addresses =

that indiscriminate Arab terror will persist in plaguing the =

Nations, the European Union and the US State Department are =

ganging up against Israel. All the signs are there. Last year, a =

Ambassador to England described Israel as feces. A Saudi newspaper =

controlled, of course, by the Saudi government =96 wrote that Jews =
make=20
holiday pastry with human blood. Tony Blair, supposedly =

partner in the war against terror, invites the mass murderer Assad =

Syria to 10 Downing Street for a cozy chat about Israel, the only =
obstacle=20
to peace in the Middle East. The British Queen invites this =
murderer Assad=20
for tea and crumpets in her palace. And the head of the US State=20
Department, Secretary of State Colin Powell, makes a remark that =
reveals=20
his admiration of Yasser Arafat: "One man=B4s terrorist is another =
man=B4s=20
freedom fighter."=20
<P>Yes, the signs are all there. As A. M. Rosenthal, formerly one =
of the=20
editors of the New York Times, said in an article in the New York =
Daily=20
News on April 5, 2002, entitled "Ignore Hate Today, Die Tomorrow", =
Jews=20
and Christians have been deceiving themselves that the most =
violent and=20
virulent anti-Semitism campaign since Hitler has involved only =
Muslim=20
states. "The noise and stench of hatred are soiling us again, not =
just=20
from Muslim countries, but from lands we consider our friends," he =
wrote,=20
"Jews, listen and you will hear the sound of breaking glass."=20
<P>Lately, I have been hearing the sound of breaking glass again. =
I was a=20
small child at the time of Kristallnacht in Austria in November of =
1938,=20
64 years ago. No, the Nazis didn=B4t break the glass of the =
windows of our=20
home. They knew that would be pointless, since our home was to be =
given in=20
good condition to one of the party faithful. They did, however, =
break all=20
the windows of our synagogue, where they had herded all the =
town=B4s Jews. I=20
remember two things very clearly, being terribly cold and so, so =
hungry.=20
The cold November winds blowing through the broken windows chilled =
us to=20
the bones as we huddled together on the stone floor. In addition, =
we were=20
very hungry. They did serve us food. A meat stew that smelled =
heavenly.=20
But of course, as Jews, we could not eat a stew made with pork. =
With their=20
fiendish sense of humor, they had put in large chunks of pork to =
teach us=20
to eat what "normal" people eat. This is just a small example of =

Nazis=B4 hatred and cruelty toward Jews. My brother and sister and =
I were=20
fortunate to escape on a Kindertransport to Sweden. My parents =
were also=20
miraculously saved by illegally crossing the Italian border, =
though they=20
endured great hardship during the war years. Most of the people, =
however,=20
who were herded into that synagogue together with us on =
Kristallnacht,=20
perished in the Holocaust.=20
<P>I think this is the reason why I stopped doing what I really =
love to=20
do, which is designing beautiful jewelry and Judaica. Instead, my=20
Belgian-born daughter-in-law, Nadia, and I founded the =
organization Women=20
for Israel=B4s Tomorrow (Women in Green). Sadly, most of Nadia=B4s =
family in=20
Belgium was also killed in the Holocaust. Both Nadia and I were =
intent=20
from the very beginning to fight those accursed Oslo Accords with =
all our=20
strength. Nadia, of course, was not born at the time of =
Kristallnacht.=20
But, she can well imagine the sound of breaking glass that her =
family=20
heard before they were transported to the Nazi death camps.=20
<P>In my opinion, this Road Map will surely lead us down the road =
to=20
another Holocaust, unless we are able to stop the evil designs of =
our=20
enemies.=20
<P>We cannot afford to sit around and say, "Well, what can we do =
about=20
it?" German Jews asked themselves the same question while the =
Nazis were=20
coming to power. Then, they couldn=B4t even ask the question, =
because they=20
were being shot, gassed and strangled. Dissemination of Jew-hate =

prelude to suicide terror just as certainly as making the bomb is =

disaster that will have the effect of undermining both =

standards of recent years, the suicide bombings in Tel Aviv this =
week were=20
horrific.=20
<P>The terrorists, members of the Al-Aqsa Martyr's Brigade (a wing =
of=20
Yasser Arafat's Fatah organization), positioned themselves at =
opposite=20
ends of a busy street and blew themselves up 30 seconds apart. =
That was to=20
guarantee the maximum number of casualties - as terrified =
pedestrians fled=20
the first explosion, many ran directly toward the bomber waiting =
to set=20
off the second.=20
<P>The attack resulted in the death of 22 civilians and wounded =
more than=20
100, many of whom will be maimed for life: The bombs were packed =
with=20
nails and metal shards so that shrapnel would shred skin and =
muscle,=20
leaving survivors with agonizing internal injuries.=20
<P>It was the third worst terror attack in Israel in the past=20
quarter-century, and Arafat's spokesman issued a statement in =
English=20
expressing ''total condemnation of these terrorist attacks against =
Israeli=20
civilians.''=20
<P>But at about the same time, the Fatah Web site posted another =
statement=20
- in Arabic - celebrating the attacks:=20
<P>''With faith in the calling of holy jihad,'' it said, ''two =
suicide=20
attackers... succeeded this evening to infiltrate the Zionist =
roadblocks=20
and to enter the heart of ... Tel Aviv and carried out two =
consecutive=20
suicide attacks.... These suicide attacks caused a large number of =
fatalities and casualties in the center of the Zionist occupation =
of our=20
land. We swear before our people that additional suicide =
operations will=20
occur.''=20
<P>Note the description of Tel Aviv, a city founded by Jews in =
1909 and=20
laid out on the empty sand dunes north of Jaffa: ''the center of =
the=20
Zionist occupation.'' To Fatah - which is to say, to Arafat and =
the=20
Palestinian leadership - the borders of the ''occupation'' are not =
those=20
of Gaza or the West Bank. They are the borders of Israel.=20
<P>Similarly, ArabicNews.com datelined its story on the Tel Aviv =
attack=20
''Palestine-Israel,'' and reported that the bombings had killed =
''23=20
Israeli settlers.'' This despite the fact that none of the dead =
were=20
residents of the settlements. Nearly one-third, in fact, weren't =
Israeli=20
at all; they were non-Jewish guest workers from Europe, China, and =
Africa.=20
<P>Israel reacted to Sunday's slaughter not with a devastating =
military=20
assault on Palestinian positions but with mere gestures: Combat=20
helicopters fired on a weapons factory in Gaza, Palestinian =
delegates were=20
barred from traveling to a conference in London, and some West =
Bank=20
colleges were temporarily closed.=20
<P>But mere gestures are not going to wipe out terrorism, nor are =
they=20
going to turn Palestinian hearts and minds against the terrorists. =
Mere=20
gestures can only feed Palestinian contempt for Israeli weakness =
and=20
reinforce the conviction that violence pays.=20
<P>For years now, violence has paid. In the 1970s, the PLO's =
hijackings=20
and mass murders won it international recognition and attention. =
The=20
mayhem of the first intifadah yielded the Oslo agreement, which=20
legitimized the PLO and gave Arafat and his lieutenants a =
dictatorship in=20
Gaza and the West Bank. The stepped-up terrorism of the Oslo years =
- the=20
years of the grossly misnamed ''peace process'' - culminated in =
former=20
Prime Minister Ehud Barak's astonishing offer of full sovereignty, =
dismantled settlements, and shared control of Jerusalem. The =
bloodshed=20
inflicted by Hezbollah led to Israel's unilateral retreat from =
southern=20
Lebanon.=20
<P>It is no wonder that so many Palestinians believe that terror =
and=20
violence will eventually lead to the end of Israel and the =
creation of a=20
23d Arab state. The wonder is that Israel doesn't use its =
tremendous=20
military power to disabuse them of that belief once and for all.=20
<P>In fairness it must be said that Israel is not entirely free to =
act in=20
its own best interest. It is under intense pressure from the US =
government=20
to do nothing that might roil the Arab world in advance of the =
American=20
invasion of Iraq. But why shouldn't Israel be permitted to deal =
with=20
Palestinian terrorism as the United States is dealing with Al =
Qaeda? Why=20
should Washington's plan to oust Saddam Hussein and transform Iraq =
into a=20
democracy prevent Israel from ousting Arafat and working a similar =
transformation of Palestinian society?=20
<P>After all, President Bush himself stressed last June that just =
such a=20
sea change is a prerequisite for Arab-Israeli peace. Nothing is =
more=20
crucial, he said, than replacing the cruel Arafat-Hamas regime =
with ''a=20
new and different Palestinian leadership,'' one ''not compromised =
by=20
terror.'' Only when Palestinians can sustain, in Bush's words, ''a =
practicing democracy based on tolerance and liberty'' will it make =
sense=20
to demand even more concessions from Israel, or to talk about =
Palestinian=20
statehood.=20
<P>To demand ''restraint'' of Israel now - to insist that it =
voluntarily=20
suppress its right to self-defense - is to make bloody atrocities =
like=20
last Sunday's not less likely but more so. Like the Taliban in=20
Afghanistan, the Palestinian Authority and the murderers it has =
supported=20
must be crushed. That is the plain meaning of the Bush Doctrine =
and the=20
essential first step to peace.=20

<P>Not many years ago, when one Israeli life was innocently lost, =
Israelis=20
were shocked and there was a sudden hush in the atmosphere and =
wonderment=20
in our voices. Why is it that now we think of it as an unavoidable =
sacrifice, as if there are certain questions for which there are =
just no=20
answers? Why was the loss of an Israeli life so inconceivable =
before and=20
so acceptable now?=20
<P>Since the Arabs could not tolerate the presence of Jews in =
their=20
neighborhood they tried to destroy us whenever they could put an =
army=20
together. Every time they lost a war they couldn't understand it, =
and they=20
couldn't believe that they wouldn't win the next war.=20
<P>Like the Americans in Vietnam and the Russians in Afghanistan, =
the=20
Arabs possessed such a huge advantage of resources, population and =
power=20
that they couldn't accept the experience of defeat by the tiny =
state of=20
Israel. As we were winning more and more victories we were paying =
a bigger=20
price and getting more and more tired of victories in the =
battlefield at=20
the cost of losing so many of our young Israeli lives. We became =
so weary=20
and fearful of the next possible war, that we blinded ourselves =
into=20
believing all the fraudulent gestures of the Arabs about making =
peace.=20
<P>We never realized the extent of our self-delusion until Prime =
Minister=20
Barak offered the Arabs 98% of what they demanded and we were =
answered=20
with an avalanche of suicide bombers taking more Israeli lives =
than ever=20
before.=20
<P>Since then, we have become involved in futile efforts to solve =
the=20
problem by retaliating more decisively than ever before, which has =
served=20
as a great release from our frustrations, but it has always left =
us=20
helpless again from the next attack from more and more suicide =
bombers.=20
Somehow we have become helpless in the face of death as if there =
were no=20
possible solution to this problem.=20
<P>For the first time in fifty years we have again become a lost,=20
confused, helpless and paralyzed people. Somehow we have resigned=20
ourselves to suffer the constant killing of our people, like =
another but=20
slower Holocaust. We have paralyzed ourselves by our sickening =
irrational=20
fear of "World Opinion," which is why we find it impossible to =
face one=20
simple fact. We will never win this war unless we immediately =
threaten to=20
drive every Arab out of Israel if the killing doesn't stop.=20
<P>It is no accident that the Arabs are not concerned with public =
opinion=20
while killing our people, but we are terrified of public opinion =
before we=20
dismiss them from our country. Somehow, we have become intimidated =
into=20
believing that we are obligated to give them a place to live, and =
we have=20
no right to throw them out just because they are killing our =
people.=20
<P>It is about time we realize that public opinion is nothing but =
publicly=20
expressed anti-Semitism and appeasing public opinion makes as much =
sense=20
as Chamberlain's appeasement of Adolf Hitler. Jews dying in Israel =
disturbs them as much as watching your neighbor killing a =
cockroach, even=20
if it doesn't fill you with pleasure you certainly don't feel =
remorse=20
about it. That is why when suicide bombers kill hundreds of Jews =
not a=20
word of protest is ever heard, but when we try to defend ourselves =
by=20
retaliating against our killers the U.N. immediately is called in =
an=20
emergency session to protect our assassins.=20
<P>We are brain-dead if we accept the idea that we have to guess =
which=20
Arab is our next killer. We are not obligated to victimize =
ourselves by=20
letting the Arabs play Russian roulette with Jewish lives. =
Israelis are=20
constantly asked the same obnoxious question " How can you throw =
the Arabs=20
out, where would they go?" The answer is if they don't care whom =
they=20
kill, why are we obligated to care where they go?=20
<P><B>If a gang of killers lived across the street, would you =
allow them=20
to keep throwing bombs through your window until you can find them =
another=20
apartment? </B>Are we morally obligated to become a real estate =
agent for=20
every Arab suicide bomber? We are not obligated to accept a new, =
slower=20
Holocaust as the inevitable fate of our people. Jordan did not =
take a poll=20
of world opinion and neither did Kuwait before they routed the=20
Palestinians out of their countries.=20
<P>America did not wait for public opinion to take whatever action =
was=20
necessary to protect their country, and there is no reason why we =
should=20
be afraid to do what is necessary to protect the state of Israel.=20
