      1.   GIVING THANKS=20
      By Naomi Ragen=20

      It's awfully late, past midnight, and I should be going to sleep =
instead of sitting here writing this. But somehow I can't allow this day =
to end without talking about it to someone.=20

      I am trying to find my feet. To know where it is I am now that the =
world as we know it doesn't seem to exist anymore. The daily murder of =
Jewish children by armed, adult men wasn't supposed to happen anymore. =
Not to my generation. The world had learned a lesson, cried a tear, =
placed a memorial wreath. It was horrified at the practical results of =
the ideology of antiSemitism. We Jews had forgiven, if not forgotten. =
Taken the reparations. Bought Volkswagen cars and DeDetrich =
dishwashers.. Now, it was supposed to be a land dispute with neighbors =
we were embroiled in..=20

      The hotel blown up in Nairobi reminded me of the Park Hotel in =
Netanya, blown up on Seder eve. I was there. I knew exactly how those =
people in the lobby felt, and the ones in their rooms who spoke about =
the shattering of glass, the slivers that flew past their faces. The =
holiday turned nightmare. The family get together that will scar and =
sear the family's memory for as long as they live, even if they walked =
away without a scratch. I cannot even begin to imagine how an injury or =
death would affect the family.=20

      I sat all day thinking: the world as I know it has disappeared. =
Well, not all day. Because for us Israeli-Americans today was also =
Thanksgiving. It's a day we've been spending together, eating turkey, =
here in the Middle East, for thirty years. My Israeli-born children =
insist on it. So, the raw turkey was sitting on the counter, and the =
green apples in the bowl waiting to be peeled for the pie. The sweet =
potatoes, stuffing, mashed potatoes, corn muffins were all still raw =
ingredients.=20

      I wondered: How can I go on? Is it right for me to go on, prepare =
a family dinner, an evening of laughter with sons, daughters, =
grandchildren, greatgrandparents? I thought of calling everyone up and =
cancelling. But then, what to do with all this food? Reluctantly, I set =
about making Thanksgiving dinner.=20

      And when the turkey was crisp and brown, the pie bubbling with =
fragrant juice, the potatoes mashed, the sweet potatoes baked.I heard =
the news on the radio suddenly switch from talking about Mombasa, to =
talking about Beit Shean.=20

      Armed men with submachine guns opening fire on people standing on =
line to vote. Men with grenades. Six dead, twenty injured. In a sleepy =
little town. People there were being asked not to go out of their homes, =
because a gunmen might still be on the loose.=20

      A sense of panic went through me. Was this, then, war? Would they =
be blowing up cars on the highway? Attacking the trains? Could we really =
get into the car and make the hour and a half ride to Netanya to bring =
our holiday meal and cheer to Mom and Dad, who can't get around anymore? =
Mom - who lived through Auschwitz. And Dad, who just had his ninetieth =
birthday, who lost his first wife and two small children to the gas =
chambers? Should we cancel on them, stay home, lock the doors, draw the =
curtains, shut off the lights?=20

      My daughter told me she was taking her three children to Mom and =
Dad, whatever I decided to do. So did my son and his wife, who were both =
at the Passover Massacre just a few months back. My children weren't =
afraid. Weren't about to give up or give in, or stop living, or stop =
feeling joy, stop celebrating being alive and having a family and living =
in the Jewish State. Just yesterday, this same daughter spent the =
evening with her sister in law, whose young husband is dying of cancer. =
A handsome father of four. Thirty-eight years old. His little girl =
crawled into bed beside her father, who can no longer see, and asked: =
"Do you know who this is?" And he answered: "Of course. You have your =
own scent. Like a flower. Do you know," he asked her, "how much I love =
you?"=20

      My daughter wanted our family to be together this Thanksgiving. =
And so I, reluctantly, full of fears, loaded my car with a box full of a =
Thanksgiving feast. In the beginning of the journey, I watched every car =
on the highway nervously. We said the travel prayer, asking God to let =
us come and go safely, a prayer we have been saying for forty years, =
long before the Intifada, or Oslo made it necessary. I felt better after =
that. I tried not to think about the elections which will decide the =
course of Israeli history.=20

      And you know what? When we arrived, safely, unpacked the food, set =
the table, we did forget, for a little while. Surrounded by all the =
people I love, passing the warm, good food around the table, giving some =
comfort to Mom and Dad, seeing some smiles on their faces as we invaded =
their small, quiet world with our talk and laughter, and small children =
that made a mess, spinning Chanukah dreidels, eating gold foil wrapped =
chocolate money, setting up plastic bowling pins on the living room =
carpet, and spreading playing cards over the couch. I had somehow =
entered the old world again, the good world, the world I grew up in, the =
world in which I raised my own four children.=20

      It was, for an hour or two at least, a reminder of all those =
things we are fighting so hard for, we Israeli Jews. All the things we =
so deserve after all that has happened to us.=20

      I knew the feeling would not last, because there were fellow Jews =
to mourn over, and that couldn't, shouldn't be forgotten. We needed to =
bring that into the world we are creating, day by day. But for those few =
hours, I felt great thanks for the things that God in His goodness, has =
granted me to rejoice in.=20

      I'm going to sleep now. I don't know how I'll feel in the morning. =
But I'm hoping some of that good, old world I love will force its shape, =
insist on its place in the world I inhabit, even as corrupt men full of =
sickening evil insist on reshaping it in their own image. But I have =
learned something: I will see many more days of thanksgiving, if only I =
have the courage to insist upon them.=20

      God bless you all. Have a Happy Chanukah. Insist on it.=20

      2.    KILLING TEAMS=20
      by Emanuel A. Winston, a Middle East analyst & commentator=20

      It is clear that Arab/Muslim killing teams have been dispatched to =
kill Americans and Israelis - or any soft target of opportunity.=20

      There was a three pronged coordinated Terror day on November 28th, =
Thanksgiving Day in America. A. strike on the Paradise Hotel in Mombasa, =
Kenya killed15 dead (so far), including two young children, a brother =
and his sister there for a Bar Mitzvah. 80 people were wounded by this =
car bombing and the Israeli owned holiday hotel was burned down. At 8:30 =
A.M. a car with 3 homicide bombers was turned back by security. The car =
rammed the hotel and exploded a time bomb packed with plastic =
explosives.=20

      The simultaneous attempt failed to take down an Israeli Arkia =
airliner Flight 582 taking off from Mombasa at 7:40 A.M. with 2 =
shoulder-fired missiles (SAM 7s - Soviet Strellas similar to the U.S. =
Stinger). The rocket launchers were found near the airport. They have =
been used by Al Qaeda but are widely dispersed among Terror groups all =
over the world. 271 Israelis landed safely at Ben Gurion Airport, =
escorted by Israeli fighter jets.=20

      These 2 coordinated Terror attacks were closely followed by a =
shooting and grenade attack in Beit She=92an, a northern city in Israel =
during Israel=92s Likud primary election that killed 5 and more than 30 =
wounded (more than 10 seriously), including 3 sons of former MK David =
Levy. The Terrorists attacked a bus stop and Likud polling center in the =
development town during the Likud election primary.=20

      These 3 nearly simultaneous attacks are a clarion call to action. =
Hopefully, we will not now and never again hear President George W. Bush =
or Secretary of State Colin L. Powell issue a call for Israel to =
restrain her just retaliation. Let us talk about some solutions:=20

      As much as it goes against our sense of justice, both America and =
Israel will now have to send out their own teams to conduct summary =
executions of the equal opportunity Terrorists. Catching radical =
Islamists with the usual techniques of gathering sufficient evidence to =
arrest, interrogate, indict and then spend years in court will just not =
work to stop dedicated Terrorists.=20

      Clearly, time is of the essence if the freedoms of civilization as =
we know it, if we are not to be submerged in wave after wave of =
Arab/Muslim Terrorists.=20

      Israeli Intelligence knows who the planners of Terror are and can =
often track them and kill them. When America used an unmanned aircraft =
to track and kill a key Terrorist with a Hellfire missile, they knew he =
was a Terrorist and would be responsible for planning future Terrorist =
operations unless stopped. Appeasers and pacifists howled that due =
process was not employed.=20

      Some may recall that, after Arafat=92s Black September murdered 11 =
Israeli athletes in Munich, Germany during the 1972 Olympics, Golda Meir =
sent out a team to track and kill the killers.=20

      This, unfortunately, is the wave of the future. Arafat has been =
training children from the age of three years old and up to hate and =
kill Jews as soon as they are able. These children who were incubated as =
future killers are now grown - with more on the way. They are =
brainwashed to be drawn to killing by the drug of radical Islam. They =
deeply believe that killing for Islam will guarantee entry into =
Allah=92s paradise. To be alive after you die and get all the rewards =
denied them on earth is like living on hallucinogens.=20

      We are talking about the cultivation of an entire civilian =
population under the umbrella of Islam to be a virtual army of potential =
Terrorists. Children, old men and women, family men with children, =
teenagers, 10 year olds, - all become the Terrorists=92 resource to be =
called upon to do the unthinkable.=20

      The civilized West is in a war with Islam and is only slowly =
coming awake to the danger. Regrettably, we are still behind the curve =
in pre-empting Terrorists. We are still playing by polite rules of war =
delineated by the U.N.=92s Geneva convention.=20

      Israel has been restrained by Washington from taking the harsh =
responses necessary to put down a full blown revolt. The Palestinian =
Arabs and Arab Muslims from around the world have made it clear that =
there are no civilians in this war. All are considered fair targets, =
including children, babies, teens, shoppers, bus passengers, tourists, =
all nationalities, etc.=20

      It is sad that Arafat, the Iranians, Syrians, Iraqis and all their =
proxy Terrorist organizations, have pulled us all down to their level. =
But, that is where they are and, if we don=92t kill them, they will kill =
us!=20

      The Israelis have an appropriate phrase: "Ein Breira!" (No =
Choice). We should listen and act.=20

      3.   A CHRISTIAN BOOM=20
      by Daniel Pipes - November 26, 2002=20

      Which of the world's largest faiths, Christianity or Islam, is =
experiencing the greater ideological reassertion and demographic surge?=20

      "Islam" is surely nearly everyone's answer. As American Christians =
experiment with ever-milder versions of their faith, Muslims display a =
fervor for extreme interpretations of Islam. As Europe suffers the =
lowest population growth rates ever recorded, Muslim countries have some =
of the highest.=20

      But, argues Philip Jenkins recently in the Atlantic Monthly, Islam =
is the wrong answer. He shows how Christianity is the religion currently =
undergoing the most basic rethinking and the largest increase in =
adherents. He makes a good case for its militancy most affecting the =
next century.=20

      "For obvious reasons," notes this professor of history and =
religious studies at Pennsylvania State University, "news reports today =
are filled with material about the influence of a resurgent and =
sometimes angry Islam. But in its variety and vitality, in its global =
reach, in its association with the world's fastest-growing societies, in =
its shifting centers of gravity, in the way its values and practices =
vary from place to place . . . it is Christianity that will leave the =
deepest mark on the 21st century."=20

      What Jenkins dubs the "Christian revolution" is so little noted =
because Christians divide into two very different regions North (Europe, =
North America, Australia) and South (South America, Africa, Asia) and we =
who live in the North only dimly perceive the momentous developments =
under way in the South. Fortunately, Jenkins is there to guide us.=20

      Faith: The changes in the South "run utterly contrary" to those in =
the liberalizing North, where religious beliefs and practices are ever =
more removed from traditional Christianity. In the South, Protestant =
movements are mainly Evangelical or Pentecostal, while Roman Catholicism =
takes an orthodox cast.=20

      By Northern lights, the South's theology and moral teaching are =
"stalwartly traditional or even reactionary," what with their respect =
for the power of priests, their notions of spiritual charisma, their =
aspiration to direct spiritual revelation, their efforts to exorcise =
demonic forces and their goal of re-creating a version of early =
Christianity. As "Southern Christians are reading the New Testament and =
taking it very seriously," increasing tensions develop with the liberal =
Northerners.=20

      Demographics: "Christians are facing a shrinking population in the =
liberal West and a growing majority of the traditional Rest. During the =
past half century the critical centers of the Christian world have moved =
decisively to Africa, to Latin America, and to Asia. The balance will =
never shift back."=20

      The numbers are jaw-dropping: Nigeria already has more practicing =
Anglicans than any other country, with Uganda not far behind. The =
Philippines has more baptisms per year than France, Spain, Italy and =
Poland together. By 2025, two-thirds of all Christians (and =
three-quarters of all Catholics) are expected to live in the South. =
(This actually understates the contrast in growth rates: Many Southern =
Christians are relocating to the North. In London today, half of all =
churchgoers are blacks.) Under present trends, by 2050 non-Latino whites =
will make up just one in five of the world's Christians.=20

      Of course, the chasm between North and South is not complete (a =
fact that Jenkins hardly touches on); the United States, for example, =
contains substantial numbers of Christians with a "Southern" outlook. =
That said, the trends are clear:=20

        a.. Although Islam may appear to be the faith of choice for the =
world's poor, Christianity is faring at least as well among them.=20

        b.. Christianity is no longer predominantly a European and North =
American faith.=20

        c.. The experimentation and decline that pervades Northern =
Christianity is less important than it appears.=20

        d.. The concept of Christendom may re-emerge in the South, where =
political, social and personal identities are being primarily defined by =
religious loyalties.=20

        e.. "An enormous rift seems inevitable" between North and South, =
possibly leading to a split in the Christian church, similar to what =
happened centuries ago between the Catholic Church and the Protestant =
movements.=20

        f.. Christianity and Islam are on a collision course, competing =
for converts and influence. Some countries "might be brought to ruin by =
the clash of jihad and crusade."
      To understand the future of Christianity, then, keep your eye on =
those Southern believers who reject the North's liberal outlook and who =
increasingly dominate the faith.

      4. IN DEFENSE OF CHRISTIAN ALLIES=20
      Why Evangelicals support Israel.=20

      By Nissan Ratzlav-Katz - November 26, 2002 - National Review=20

      Last Thursday, a delegation of leaders of the conservative =
American grassroots organization, the Christian Coalition, rode a bus in =
Jerusalem. A simple act, yet one that symbolized support and commitment =
to Israel more than the most emphatic declarations made overseas. You =
see, the bus they rode was no tour bus; it was Egged bus number 20. It =
was the same line that an Arab suicide bomber rode that very morning, =
killing eleven people on their way to school and work, and injuring more =
than 50. The same delegation, led by Coalition president Roberta Combs =
had also visited Hebron the previous Tuesday, to publicly show their =
support for the Jewish community in that ancient city following the =
Friday-night terrorist ambush that claimed 12 Israeli lives. To =
paraphrase, the Christian Coalition delegates put their bodies where =
their money has been going.=20

      Unlike among most liberals =97 even Jewish ones =97 these =
supporters of Israel do not distinguish between Jews living in Judea, =
Samaria, and Gaza and those living on Israel's Mediterranean coast. Ron =
Nachman, the mayor of Ariel =97 in Samaria =97 once explained to a =
Jerusalem Post reporter that "groups of evangelical Christians came to =
Israel expressly to participate in tours of the West Bank, 'the Land of =
Promise.' Many groups, he said, come straight from Ben-Gurion Airport to =
the Eshel Hashomron Hotel in Ariel."=20

      As I have personally come to learn, there are a lot of Israeli =
flags flying beside American flags outside of churches and many pastors =
sporting "I Stand With Israel" t-shirts, nowadays. As expressed in a =
letter published in the Jerusalem Post, by Victor Mordecai, an advocate =
of Jewish-Christian alliance, "I saw Christians, whites, blacks, =
Hispanics and native Americans crying tears of love and repentance for =
Israel.... I have visited and spoken in over 300 churches and groups of =
all denominations. I have hugged and kissed tens of thousands of =
Christians who sincerely love us." A Tarrance Group poll recently =
revealed what many Israeli politicians have long known, conservative =
Christian support for Israel is overwhelming =97 almost ten percent =
stronger than among the general American population.=20

      In addition to general support for Israel, and specific affinity =
for the Biblical lands of Judea and Samaria, Christian Zionism expresses =
itself in encouraging aliyah =97 Jewish immigration to Israel. A group =
called Christians for Israel is operating a project called Exobus, =
assisting Jews from the former Soviet Union to come to Israel. As the =
organization's website puts it: "It is more than just a humanitarian =
project =97 it is a divine calling for the Church to assist the Jewish =
people in their physical return and restoration of the land of Israel."=20

      Nor is that all, an organization called the International =
Christian Chamber of Commerce (ICCC) is active in promoting Israeli =
businesses and bolstering the Israeli economy. The chamber held its most =
recent board meeting in Tel Aviv, and Israel Line, a publication of the =
Israeli Foreign Ministry, reported that in June the organization =
sponsored "an international business conference in Jerusalem in which =
400 businessmen from 40 nations met with representatives of Israeli =
companies... the Manufacturers Association, the Israeli Export Institute =
and the Federation of Israeli Chambers of Commerce." According to the =
ICCC, more than 1,000 meetings were conducted during the two days of the =
conference. The ICCC also allows Israeli companies to list their =
products and services for free on its international online business =
matching service, reports Globes, an Israeli financial newspaper.=20

      In response to this unbounded support, some Jewish columnists have =
expressed misgivings, or outright hostility, when it comes to the =
Christian right's pro-Israel stance. Their main concern is a supposed =
"anti-Semitism" ingrained in the very theology that pushes those =
Christians to support Israel. As Gershom Gorenberg put it in an article =
in the Jerusalem Report: "conservative evangelicals' 'love' for Israel =
is rooted in their theology. Following classic Christian anti-Jewish =
doctrine, it sees Jews as spiritually blind for rejecting Jesus. But it =
also regards Israel's existence as heralding the end of days =97 when =
Jews will die or at last convert and Jesus will return." More bluntly, =
Josh Ruebner, one of the founders of the Washington-based group Jews for =
Peace in Palestine and Israel (JPPI), called the alliance between =
Christian evangelicals and American Jews in support of Israel =
"repugnant," saying, "Most of the right-wing elements which make up the =
Christian Coalition are truly anti-Semitic at heart." They earn that =
epithet because they "believe that Jewish souls cannot go to heaven and =
that Jews will have to be converted before the end of days," Ruebner =
told a Religion News Service reporter last month.=20

      The Christian belief that Jews will ultimately convert is no =
different than the Jewish idea that false theologies will ultimately be =
recognized for what they are. While such beliefs may not sit well with =
irreligious people of all communities, as long as believers do not =
coerce others, they remain a theological difference of opinion. As Mr. =
Mordecai put it in his aforementioned Jerusalem Post letter to the =
editor, "Do they want us to become Christians? Yes, because they do love =
us, and it is part of their Christian faith.... Does this make the =
Christians our enemy? As a Torah loyalist and mitzvah observant Jew, I =
think not... The Christians are merely loyal to their faith, the faith =
in the same God of the Jews, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. They =
believe in the same Bible."=20

      Furthermore, while end-times theology may play a role for many in =
their support for modern-day Israel, the primary motivating force for =
such support is the Biblical covenant with the Jews, rather than a =
future promise of conversion. Evangelist Jerry Falwell, in a videotaped =
message to last month's Washington, D.C. Christian Coalition conference, =
said, "I have believed in and supported the Abrahamic covenant that God =
blesses those who bless Israel and curses those who curse Israel." =
Similarly, material produced by John Hagee Ministries, which donates =
funds to finance Jewish immigration to Israel, lists seven reasons for =
Christians to support the Jewish state. First on the list is the verse =
from Genesis referred to by Falwell: "And I will bless them that bless =
thee and curse him that curseth thee; and in thee shall all nations of =
the earth be blessed." One of many other reasons-all from the same =
sources: the instruction in Psalm 122, "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem, =
they shall prosper that love thee."=20

      Dr. Arthur F. Glasser, Dean Emeritus at the Fuller Theological =
Seminary in Pasadena, California, cited another, more secular reason in =
his own treatise on evangelical support for Israel. He writes, "So then, =
why should evangelicals particularly support Israel? In the first place, =
anything that concerns the Jewish people should be their concern. This =
arises in part from the massive indebtedness of all people everywhere to =
them. What people anywhere in the earth can honestly say that they are =
not indebted to the Jews for their contributions to world culture? These =
contributions touch every aspect of human society and individual =
enrichment."=20

      In contrast, there's the following little tidbit: Jews for Peace =
in Palestine and Israel was recently in the news when Israeli =
immigration authorities refused entry to a nine-person U.S. =
congressional-staff delegation co-sponsored by JPPI and American Muslims =
for Jerusalem (AMJ). The AMJ is a project sponsored by the American =
Muslim Alliance (AMA), the American Muslim Council (AMC) and the Council =
on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), among others. CAIR grew out of the =
Hamas in 1994 and two of the three founding directors of CAIR occupied =
senior positions in the Islamic Association for Palestine, a front group =
for Hamas. In 1998, at a rally in Brooklyn cosponsored by CAIR, one =
speaker referred to Jews as "descendants of the apes." Similarly, the =
AMA held a convention at which Holocaust revisionist literature was =
circulated. The AMC, meanwhile, spends its time and money routinely =
declaring that Hamas "is not a terrorist group" and has hosted a speaker =
who praised suicide bombers, urging support for such "martyrdom =
operations." The AMC's deputy director, Issa Smith, told the Los Angeles =
Times on January 24, 1991, "Often we say that we are not against Jews, =
but against Zionists, those who had the goal of creating a state run by =
Jews."=20

      All of this, apparently, did not qualify as "repugnant" in the =
view of JPPI's Josh Ruebner, unlike the Christian right's support for =
Israel. It may be that the JPPI acted hastily, out of ignorance, in =
allying itself with such organizations, but did they even question their =
erstwhile allies about the Koranic verse which states (from Sura 5:51), =
"Believers, take neither the Jews nor the Christians for your friends"? =
Or about the Moslem teaching (Hadith, Sahih Bukhari, Vol. 4, Book 52, =
No. 177), "Allah's apostle (Mohammad) said, 'The Hour [of the end of =
time] will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the =
stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say. "O Muslim! There is a =
Jew hiding behind me, so kill him."'"? What of that bit of "end-time =
theology"? Isn't that at least a little "repugnant" to Ruebner?=20

      I don't believe that left-wing groups like JPPI even consider it =
worth their effort to get worked up over real, visceral anti-Semitism, =
which is all too prevalent in today's Moslem world. Rather, what is =
behind their feigned concern is that, according to the JPPI website, the =
organization "calls upon Israel to end its brutal military occupation of =
the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and East Jerusalem... supports the =
Palestinian people's right to exercise self-determination... supports =
the evacuation of [Jewish] settlements... recognize[s] the [Arab] =
refugees' right of return..." All of which is in contradistinction to =
the firm belief held by many on the Christian right that, in the words =
of Senator James Inhofe (R., Okla.), "Israel is entitled to that land."=20

      29 November 1947=20
      Today, November 29, 1947, marks the day on which the United =
Nations General Assembly voted in favor of the resolution, no. 181, =
adopting a partition plan for the land of Israel under the British =
Palestine Mandate. The plan called for the termination of the Mandate =
and the division of the territory between Jews and Arabs, with the =
creation of a Jewish and an Arab state. Despite the fact that the Jewish =
state was to receive only a small part of Western Palestine, the =
mainstream Zionist Organization and its institutions agreed to accept =
the plan, since it recognized the right of the Jewish people to a state =
and not only a "national home" as stated in the 1917 Balfour Declaration =
and the 1922 Mandate for Palestine. According to the Knesset=92s =
official website , "The adoption of the partition resolution by the =
General Assembly was received by the Jewish community with great joy and =
thousands went out to the streets to celebrate, even though it was clear =
that the Arab states and the Palestinian Arabs would embark on a =
relentless war against the realization of the plan to establish a Jewish =
state."=20

      PA legislator threatens US with suicide attacks
      By MICHAEL FREUND - Nov. 26, 2002 - Jerusalem Post=20
      Palestinian legislator Nahed Munir al-Rayis has warned the US that =
its Middle East policy will lead to suicide bombing attacks, Palestinian =
Media Watch revealed Tuesday.=20

      According to the group, which monitors the Palestinian media, =
Rayis' November 25 column in the official Palestinian Authority =
newspaper Al-Hayat al-Jadeeda charged President George W. Bush with =
attempting to "isolate" and "incite" the Muslim world against America. =
This, he said, will leave Arabs and Moslems no choice but to carry out =
"suicide attacks against the United States, its armed forces, and its =
navy."=20

        a.. Two Attacks on Freedom Firing missiles at a civilian =

      <P>By Naomi Ragen=20
      <P><FONT color=3D#800000 size=3D+2>I</FONT>t's awfully late, past =
midnight,=20
      and I should be going to sleep instead of sitting here writing =
this. But=20
      somehow I can't allow this day to end without talking about it to =
someone.=20

      <P>I am trying to find my feet. To know where it is I am now that =
the=20
      world as we know it doesn't seem to exist anymore. The daily =
murder of=20
      Jewish children by armed, adult men wasn't supposed to happen =
anymore. Not=20
      to my generation. The world had learned a lesson, cried a tear, =
placed a=20
      memorial wreath. It was horrified at the practical results of the =
ideology=20
      of antiSemitism. We Jews had forgiven, if not forgotten. Taken the =

      reparations. Bought Volkswagen cars and DeDetrich dishwashers.. =
Now, it=20
      was supposed to be a land dispute with neighbors we were embroiled =
in..=20
      <P>The hotel blown up in Nairobi reminded me of the Park Hotel in =
Netanya,=20
      blown up on Seder eve. I was there. I knew exactly how those =
people in the=20
      lobby felt, and the ones in their rooms who spoke about the =
shattering of=20
      glass, the slivers that flew past their faces. The holiday turned=20
      nightmare. The family get together that will scar and sear the =
family's=20
      memory for as long as they live, even if they walked away without =
a=20
      scratch. I cannot even begin to imagine how an injury or death =
would=20
      affect the family.=20
      <P>I sat all day thinking: the world as I know it has disappeared. =
Well,=20
      not all day. Because for us Israeli-Americans today was also =
Thanksgiving.=20
      It's a day we've been spending together, eating turkey, here in =
the Middle=20
      East, for thirty years. My Israeli-born children insist on it. So, =
the raw=20
      turkey was sitting on the counter, and the green apples in the =
bowl=20
      waiting to be peeled for the pie. The sweet potatoes, stuffing, =
mashed=20
      potatoes, corn muffins were all still raw ingredients.=20
      <P>I wondered: How can I go on? Is it right for me to go on, =
prepare a=20
      family dinner, an evening of laughter with sons, daughters, =
grandchildren,=20
      greatgrandparents? I thought of calling everyone up and =
cancelling. But=20
      then, what to do with all this food? Reluctantly, I set about =
making=20
      Thanksgiving dinner.=20
      <P>And when the turkey was crisp and brown, the pie bubbling with =
fragrant=20
      juice, the potatoes mashed, the sweet potatoes baked.I heard the =
news on=20
      the radio suddenly switch from talking about Mombasa, to talking =
about=20
      Beit Shean.=20
      <P>Armed men with submachine guns opening fire on people standing =
on line=20
      to vote. Men with grenades. Six dead, twenty injured. In a sleepy =
little=20
      town. People there were being asked not to go out of their homes, =
because=20
      a gunmen might still be on the loose.=20
      <P>A sense of panic went through me. Was this, then, war? Would =
they be=20
      blowing up cars on the highway? Attacking the trains? Could we =
really get=20
      into the car and make the hour and a half ride to Netanya to bring =
our=20
      holiday meal and cheer to Mom and Dad, who can't get around =
anymore? Mom -=20
      who lived through Auschwitz. And Dad, who just had his ninetieth =
birthday,=20
      who lost his first wife and two small children to the gas =
chambers? Should=20
      we cancel on them, stay home, lock the doors, draw the curtains, =
shut off=20
      the lights?=20
      <P>My daughter told me she was taking her three children to Mom =
and Dad,=20
      whatever I decided to do. So did my son and his wife, who were =
both at the=20
      Passover Massacre just a few months back. My children weren't =
afraid.=20
      Weren't about to give up or give in, or stop living, or stop =
feeling joy,=20
      stop celebrating being alive and having a family and living in the =
Jewish=20
      State. Just yesterday, this same daughter spent the evening with =
her=20
      sister in law, whose young husband is dying of cancer. A handsome =
father=20
      of four. Thirty-eight years old. His little girl crawled into bed =
beside=20
      her father, who can no longer see, and asked: "Do you know who =
this is?"=20
      And he answered: "Of course. You have your own scent. Like a =
flower. Do=20
      you know," he asked her, "how much I love you?"=20
      <P>My daughter wanted our family to be together this Thanksgiving. =
And so=20
      I, reluctantly, full of fears, loaded my car with a box full of a=20
      Thanksgiving feast. In the beginning of the journey, I watched =
every car=20
      on the highway nervously. We said the travel prayer, asking God to =
let us=20
      come and go safely, a prayer we have been saying for forty years, =
long=20
      before the Intifada, or Oslo made it necessary. I felt better =
after that.=20
      I tried not to think about the elections which will decide the =
course of=20
      Israeli history.=20
      <P>And you know what? When we arrived, safely, unpacked the food, =
set the=20
      table, we did forget, for a little while. Surrounded by all the =
people I=20
      love, passing the warm, good food around the table, giving some =
comfort to=20
      Mom and Dad, seeing some smiles on their faces as we invaded their =
small,=20
      quiet world with our talk and laughter, and small children that =
made a=20
      mess, spinning Chanukah dreidels, eating gold foil wrapped =
chocolate=20
      money, setting up plastic bowling pins on the living room carpet, =
and=20
      spreading playing cards over the couch. I had somehow entered the =
old=20
      world again, the good world, the world I grew up in, the world in =
which I=20
      raised my own four children.=20
      <P>It was, for an hour or two at least, a reminder of all those =
things we=20
      are fighting so hard for, we Israeli Jews. All the things we so =
deserve=20
      after all that has happened to us.=20
      <P>I knew the feeling would not last, because there were fellow =
Jews to=20
      mourn over, and that couldn't, shouldn't be forgotten. We needed =
to bring=20
      that into the world we are creating, day by day. But for those few =
hours,=20
      I felt great thanks for the things that God in His goodness, has =
granted=20
      me to rejoice in.=20
      <P>I'm going to sleep now. I don't know how I'll feel in the =
morning. But=20
      I'm hoping some of that good, old world I love will force its =
shape,=20
      insist on its place in the world I inhabit, even as corrupt men =
full of=20
      sickening evil insist on reshaping it in their own image. But I =
have=20
      learned something: I will see many more days of thanksgiving, if =
only I=20
      have the courage to insist upon them.=20
      <P>God bless you all. Have a Happy Chanukah. Insist on it.=20

      <P><FONT color=3D#800000 size=3D+2><STRONG>I</STRONG></FONT>t is =
clear that=20
      Arab/Muslim killing teams have been dispatched to kill Americans =
and=20
      Israelis - or any soft target of opportunity.=20
      <P>There was a three pronged coordinated Terror day on November =
28th,=20
      Thanksgiving Day in America. A. strike on the Paradise Hotel in =
Mombasa,=20
      Kenya killed15 dead (so far), including two young children, a =
brother and=20
      his sister there for a Bar Mitzvah. 80 people were wounded by this =
car=20
      bombing and the Israeli owned holiday hotel was burned down. At =
8:30 A.M.=20
      a car with 3 homicide bombers was turned back by security. The car =
rammed=20
      the hotel and exploded a time bomb packed with plastic explosives. =

      <P>The simultaneous attempt failed to take down an Israeli Arkia =
airliner=20
      Flight 582 taking off from Mombasa at 7:40 A.M. with 2 =
shoulder-fired=20
      missiles (SAM 7s - Soviet Strellas similar to the U.S. Stinger). =
The=20
      rocket launchers were found near the airport. They have been used =
by Al=20
      Qaeda but are widely dispersed among Terror groups all over the =
world. 271=20
      Israelis landed safely at Ben Gurion Airport, escorted by Israeli =
fighter=20
      jets.=20
      <P>These 2 coordinated Terror attacks were closely followed by a =
shooting=20
      and grenade attack in Beit She=92an, a northern city in Israel =
during=20
      Israel=92s Likud primary election that killed 5 and more than 30 =
wounded=20
      (more than 10 seriously), including 3 sons of former MK David =
Levy. The=20
      Terrorists attacked a bus stop and Likud polling center in the =
development=20
      town during the Likud election primary.=20
      <P>These 3 nearly simultaneous attacks are a clarion call to =
action.=20
      Hopefully, we will not now and never again hear President George =
W. Bush=20
      or Secretary of State Colin L. Powell issue a call for Israel to =
restrain=20
      her just retaliation. Let us talk about some solutions:=20
      <P>As much as it goes against our sense of justice, both America =
and=20
      Israel will now have to send out their own teams to conduct =
summary=20
      executions of the equal opportunity Terrorists. Catching radical =
Islamists=20
      with the usual techniques of gathering sufficient evidence to =
arrest,=20
      interrogate, indict and then spend years in court will just not =
work to=20
      stop dedicated Terrorists.=20
      <P>Clearly, time is of the essence if the freedoms of civilization =
as we=20
      know it, if we are not to be submerged in wave after wave of =
Arab/Muslim=20
      Terrorists.=20
      <P>Israeli Intelligence knows who the planners of Terror are and =
can often=20
      track them and kill them. When America used an unmanned aircraft =
to track=20
      and kill a key Terrorist with a Hellfire missile, they knew he was =
a=20
      Terrorist and would be responsible for planning future Terrorist=20
      operations unless stopped. Appeasers and pacifists howled that due =
process=20
      was not employed.=20
      <P>Some may recall that, after Arafat=92s Black September murdered =
11=20
      Israeli athletes in Munich, Germany during the 1972 Olympics, =
Golda Meir=20
      sent out a team to track and kill the killers.=20
      <P>This, unfortunately, is the wave of the future. Arafat has been =

      training children from the age of three years old and up to hate =
and kill=20
      Jews as soon as they are able. These children who were incubated =
as future=20
      killers are now grown - with more on the way. They are brainwashed =
to be=20
      drawn to killing by the drug of radical Islam. They deeply believe =
that=20
      killing for Islam will guarantee entry into Allah=92s paradise. To =
be alive=20
      after you die and get all the rewards denied them on earth is like =
living=20
      on hallucinogens.=20
      <P>We are talking about the cultivation of an entire civilian =
population=20
      under the umbrella of Islam to be a virtual army of potential =
Terrorists.=20
      Children, old men and women, family men with children, teenagers, =
10 year=20
      olds, - all become the Terrorists=92 resource to be called upon to =
do the=20
      unthinkable.=20
      <P>The civilized West is in a war with Islam and is only slowly =
coming=20
      awake to the danger. Regrettably, we are still behind the curve in =

      pre-empting Terrorists. We are still playing by polite rules of =
war=20
      delineated by the U.N.=92s Geneva convention.=20
      <P>Israel has been restrained by Washington from taking the harsh=20
      responses necessary to put down a full blown revolt. The =
Palestinian Arabs=20
      and Arab Muslims from around the world have made it clear that =
there are=20
      no civilians in this war. All are considered fair targets, =
including=20
      children, babies, teens, shoppers, bus passengers, tourists, all=20
      nationalities, etc.=20
      <P>It is sad that Arafat, the Iranians, Syrians, Iraqis and all =
their=20
      proxy Terrorist organizations, have pulled us all down to their =
level.=20
      But, that is where they are and, if we don=92t kill them, they =
will kill us!=20

      <P>The Israelis have an appropriate phrase: "Ein Breira!" (No =
Choice). We=20
      should listen and act.=20

      <B>3. &nbsp;&nbsp;<A name=3D3>A CHRISTIAN BOOM</A> </B>
      <P>by Daniel Pipes - November 26, 2002=20
      <P><STRONG><FONT color=3D#800000 size=3D+2>W</FONT></STRONG>hich =
of the=20
      world's largest faiths, Christianity or Islam, is experiencing the =
greater=20
      ideological reassertion and demographic surge?=20
      <P>"Islam" is surely nearly everyone's answer. As American =
Christians=20
      experiment with ever-milder versions of their faith, Muslims =
display a=20
      fervor for extreme interpretations of Islam. As Europe suffers the =
lowest=20
      population growth rates ever recorded, Muslim countries have some =
of the=20
      highest.=20
      <P>But, argues Philip Jenkins recently in the Atlantic Monthly, =
Islam is=20
      the wrong answer. He shows how Christianity is the religion =
currently=20
      undergoing the most basic rethinking and the largest increase in=20
      adherents. He makes a good case for its militancy most affecting =
the next=20
      century.=20
      <P>"For obvious reasons," notes this professor of history and =
religious=20
      studies at Pennsylvania State University, "news reports today are =
filled=20
      with material about the influence of a resurgent and sometimes =
angry=20
      Islam. But in its variety and vitality, in its global reach, in =
its=20
      association with the world's fastest-growing societies, in its =
shifting=20
      centers of gravity, in the way its values and practices vary from =
place to=20
      place . . . it is Christianity that will leave the deepest mark on =
the=20
      21st century."=20
      <P>What Jenkins dubs the "Christian revolution" is so little noted =
because=20
      Christians divide into two very different regions North (Europe, =
North=20
      America, Australia) and South (South America, Africa, Asia) and we =
who=20
      live in the North only dimly perceive the momentous developments =
under way=20
      in the South. Fortunately, Jenkins is there to guide us.=20
      <P><B>Faith:</B> The changes in the South "run utterly contrary" =
to those=20
      in the liberalizing North, where religious beliefs and practices =
are ever=20
      more removed from traditional Christianity. In the South, =
Protestant=20
      movements are mainly Evangelical or Pentecostal, while Roman =
Catholicism=20
      takes an orthodox cast.=20
      <P>By Northern lights, the South's theology and moral teaching are =

      "stalwartly traditional or even reactionary," what with their =
respect for=20
      the power of priests, their notions of spiritual charisma, their=20
      aspiration to direct spiritual revelation, their efforts to =
exorcise=20
      demonic forces and their goal of re-creating a version of early=20
      Christianity. As "Southern Christians are reading the New =
Testament and=20
      taking it very seriously," increasing tensions develop with the =
liberal=20
      Northerners.=20
      <P><B>Demographics:</B> "Christians are facing a shrinking =
population in=20
      the liberal West and a growing majority of the traditional Rest. =
During=20
      the past half century the critical centers of the Christian world =
have=20
      moved decisively to Africa, to Latin America, and to Asia. The =
balance=20
      will never shift back."=20
      <P>The numbers are jaw-dropping: Nigeria already has more =
practicing=20
      Anglicans than any other country, with Uganda not far behind. The=20
      Philippines has more baptisms per year than France, Spain, Italy =
and=20
      Poland together. By 2025, two-thirds of all Christians (and =
three-quarters=20
      of all Catholics) are expected to live in the South. (This =
actually=20
      understates the contrast in growth rates: Many Southern Christians =
are=20
      relocating to the North. In London today, half of all churchgoers =
are=20
      blacks.) Under present trends, by 2050 non-Latino whites will make =
up just=20
      one in five of the world's Christians.=20
      <P>Of course, the chasm between North and South is not complete (a =
fact=20
      that Jenkins hardly touches on); the United States, for example, =
contains=20
      substantial numbers of Christians with a "Southern" outlook. That =
said,=20
      the trends are clear:=20
      <UL>
        <LI>Although Islam may appear to be the faith of choice for the =
world's=20
        poor, Christianity is faring at least as well among them. =
<BR><BR>
        <LI>Christianity is no longer predominantly a European and North =

        American faith. <BR><BR>
        <LI>The experimentation and decline that pervades Northern =
Christianity=20
        is less important than it appears. <BR><BR>
        <LI>The concept of Christendom may re-emerge in the South, where =

        political, social and personal identities are being primarily =
defined by=20
        religious loyalties. <BR><BR>
        <LI>"An enormous rift seems inevitable" between North and South, =

        possibly leading to a split in the Christian church, similar to =
what=20
        happened centuries ago between the Catholic Church and the =
Protestant=20
        movements. <BR><BR>
        <LI>Christianity and Islam are on a collision course, competing =
for=20
        converts and influence. Some countries "might be brought to ruin =
by the=20
        clash of <I>jihad</I> and crusade."</LI></UL>
      <P>To understand the future of Christianity, then, keep your eye =
on those=20
      Southern believers who reject the North's liberal outlook and who=20
      increasingly dominate the faith.</P>

      <P><FONT color=3D#800000 size=3D+2>L</FONT>ast Thursday, a =
delegation of=20
      leaders of the conservative American grassroots organization, the=20
      Christian Coalition, rode a bus in Jerusalem. A simple act, yet =
one that=20
      symbolized support and commitment to Israel more than the most =
emphatic=20
      declarations made overseas. You see, the bus they rode was no tour =
bus; it=20
      was Egged bus number 20. It was the same line that an Arab suicide =
bomber=20
      rode that very morning, killing eleven people on their way to =
school and=20
      work, and injuring more than 50. The same delegation, led by =
Coalition=20
      president Roberta Combs had also visited Hebron the previous =
Tuesday, to=20
      publicly show their support for the Jewish community in that =
ancient city=20
      following the Friday-night terrorist ambush that claimed 12 =
Israeli lives.=20
      To paraphrase, the Christian Coalition delegates put their bodies =
where=20
      their money has been going.=20
      <P>Unlike among most liberals =97 even Jewish ones =97 these =
supporters of=20
      Israel do not distinguish between Jews living in Judea, Samaria, =
and Gaza=20
      and those living on Israel's Mediterranean coast. Ron Nachman, the =
mayor=20
      of Ariel =97 in Samaria =97 once explained to a Jerusalem Post =
reporter that=20
      "groups of evangelical Christians came to Israel expressly to =
participate=20
      in tours of the West Bank, 'the Land of Promise.' Many groups, he =
said,=20
      come straight from Ben-Gurion Airport to the Eshel Hashomron Hotel =
in=20
      Ariel."=20
      <P>As I have personally come to learn, there are a lot of Israeli =
flags=20
      flying beside American flags outside of churches and many pastors =
sporting=20
      "I Stand With Israel" t-shirts, nowadays. As expressed in a letter =

      published in the Jerusalem Post, by Victor Mordecai, an advocate =
of=20
      Jewish-Christian alliance, "I saw Christians, whites, blacks, =
Hispanics=20
      and native Americans crying tears of love and repentance for =
Israel.... I=20
      have visited and spoken in over 300 churches and groups of all=20
      denominations. I have hugged and kissed tens of thousands of =
Christians=20
      who sincerely love us." A Tarrance Group poll recently revealed =
what many=20
      Israeli politicians have long known, conservative Christian =
support for=20
      Israel is overwhelming =97 almost ten percent stronger than among =
the=20
      general American population.=20
      <P>In addition to general support for Israel, and specific =
affinity for=20
      the Biblical lands of Judea and Samaria, Christian Zionism =
expresses=20
      itself in encouraging aliyah =97 Jewish immigration to Israel. A =
group=20
      called Christians for Israel is operating a project called Exobus, =

      assisting Jews from the former Soviet Union to come to Israel. As =
the=20
      organization's website puts it: "It is more than just a =
humanitarian=20
      project =97 it is a divine calling for the Church to assist the =
Jewish=20
      people in their physical return and restoration of the land of =
Israel."=20
      <P>Nor is that all, an organization called the International =
Christian=20
      Chamber of Commerce (ICCC) is active in promoting Israeli =
businesses and=20
      bolstering the Israeli economy. The chamber held its most recent =
board=20
      meeting in Tel Aviv, and Israel Line, a publication of the Israeli =
Foreign=20
      Ministry, reported that in June the organization sponsored "an=20
      international business conference in Jerusalem in which 400 =
businessmen=20
      from 40 nations met with representatives of Israeli companies... =
the=20
      Manufacturers Association, the Israeli Export Institute and the =
Federation=20
      of Israeli Chambers of Commerce." According to the ICCC, more than =
1,000=20
      meetings were conducted during the two days of the conference. The =
ICCC=20
      also allows Israeli companies to list their products and services =
for free=20
      on its international online business matching service, reports =
Globes, an=20
      Israeli financial newspaper.=20
      <P>In response to this unbounded support, some Jewish columnists =
have=20
      expressed misgivings, or outright hostility, when it comes to the=20
      Christian right's pro-Israel stance. Their main concern is a =
supposed=20
      "anti-Semitism" ingrained in the very theology that pushes those=20
      Christians to support Israel. As Gershom Gorenberg put it in an =
article in=20
      the Jerusalem Report: "conservative evangelicals' 'love' for =
Israel is=20
      rooted in their theology. Following classic Christian anti-Jewish=20
      doctrine, it sees Jews as spiritually blind for rejecting Jesus. =
But it=20
      also regards Israel's existence as heralding the end of days =97 =
when Jews=20
      will die or at last convert and Jesus will return." More bluntly, =
Josh=20
      Ruebner, one of the founders of the Washington-based group Jews =
for Peace=20
      in Palestine and Israel (JPPI), called the alliance between =
Christian=20
      evangelicals and American Jews in support of Israel "repugnant," =
saying,=20
      "Most of the right-wing elements which make up the Christian =
Coalition are=20
      truly anti-Semitic at heart." They earn that epithet because they =
"believe=20
      that Jewish souls cannot go to heaven and that Jews will have to =
be=20
      converted before the end of days," Ruebner told a Religion News =
Service=20
      reporter last month.=20
      <P>The Christian belief that Jews will ultimately convert is no =
different=20
      than the Jewish idea that false theologies will ultimately be =
recognized=20
      for what they are. While such beliefs may not sit well with =
irreligious=20
      people of all communities, as long as believers do not coerce =
others, they=20
      remain a theological difference of opinion. As Mr. Mordecai put it =
in his=20
      aforementioned Jerusalem Post letter to the editor, "Do they want =
us to=20
      become Christians? Yes, because they do love us, and it is part of =
their=20
      Christian faith.... Does this make the Christians our enemy? As a =
Torah=20
      loyalist and mitzvah observant Jew, I think not... The Christians =
are=20
      merely loyal to their faith, the faith in the same God of the =
Jews, the=20
      God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. They believe in the same Bible."=20
      <P>Furthermore, while end-times theology may play a role for many =
in their=20
      support for modern-day Israel, the primary motivating force for =
such=20
      support is the Biblical covenant with the Jews, rather than a =
future=20
      promise of conversion. Evangelist Jerry Falwell, in a videotaped =
message=20
      to last month's Washington, D.C. Christian Coalition conference, =
said, "I=20
      have believed in and supported the Abrahamic covenant that God =
blesses=20
      those who bless Israel and curses those who curse Israel." =
Similarly,=20
      material produced by John Hagee Ministries, which donates funds to =
finance=20
      Jewish immigration to Israel, lists seven reasons for Christians =
to=20
      support the Jewish state. First on the list is the verse from =
Genesis=20
      referred to by Falwell: "And I will bless them that bless thee and =
curse=20
      him that curseth thee; and in thee shall all nations of the earth =
be=20
      blessed." One of many other reasons-all from the same sources: the =

      instruction in Psalm 122, "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem, they =
shall=20
      prosper that love thee."=20
      <P>Dr. Arthur F. Glasser, Dean Emeritus at the Fuller Theological =
Seminary=20
      in Pasadena, California, cited another, more secular reason in his =
own=20
      treatise on evangelical support for Israel. He writes, "So then, =
why=20
      should evangelicals particularly support Israel? In the first =
place,=20
      anything that concerns the Jewish people should be their concern. =
This=20
      arises in part from the massive indebtedness of all people =
everywhere to=20
      them. What people anywhere in the earth can honestly say that they =
are not=20
      indebted to the Jews for their contributions to world culture? =
These=20
      contributions touch every aspect of human society and individual=20
      enrichment."=20
      <P>In contrast, there's the following little tidbit: Jews for =
Peace in=20
      Palestine and Israel was recently in the news when Israeli =
immigration=20
      authorities refused entry to a nine-person U.S. =
congressional-staff=20
      delegation co-sponsored by JPPI and American Muslims for Jerusalem =
(AMJ).=20
      The AMJ is a project sponsored by the American Muslim Alliance =
(AMA), the=20
      American Muslim Council (AMC) and the Council on American Islamic=20
      Relations (CAIR), among others. CAIR grew out of the Hamas in 1994 =
and two=20
      of the three founding directors of CAIR occupied senior positions =
in the=20
      Islamic Association for Palestine, a front group for Hamas. In =
1998, at a=20
      rally in Brooklyn cosponsored by CAIR, one speaker referred to =
Jews as=20
      "descendants of the apes." Similarly, the AMA held a convention at =
which=20
      Holocaust revisionist literature was circulated. The AMC, =
meanwhile,=20
      spends its time and money routinely declaring that Hamas "is not a =

      terrorist group" and has hosted a speaker who praised suicide =
bombers,=20
      urging support for such "martyrdom operations." The AMC's deputy =
director,=20
      Issa Smith, told the Los Angeles Times on January 24, 1991, "Often =
we say=20
      that we are not against Jews, but against Zionists, those who had =
the goal=20
      of creating a state run by Jews."=20
      <P>All of this, apparently, did not qualify as "repugnant" in the =
view of=20
      JPPI's Josh Ruebner, unlike the Christian right's support for =
Israel. It=20
      may be that the JPPI acted hastily, out of ignorance, in allying =
itself=20
      with such organizations, but did they even question their =
erstwhile allies=20
      about the Koranic verse which states (from Sura 5:51), "Believers, =
take=20
      neither the Jews nor the Christians for your friends"? Or about =
the Moslem=20
      teaching (Hadith, Sahih Bukhari, Vol. 4, Book 52, No. 177), =
"Allah's=20
      apostle (Mohammad) said, 'The Hour [of the end of time] will not =
be=20
      established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind =
which a=20
      Jew will be hiding will say. "O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding =
behind me,=20
      so kill him."'"? What of that bit of "end-time theology"? Isn't =
that at=20
      least a little "repugnant" to Ruebner?=20
      <P>I don't believe that left-wing groups like JPPI even consider =
it worth=20
      their effort to get worked up over real, visceral anti-Semitism, =
which is=20
      all too prevalent in today's Moslem world. Rather, what is behind =
their=20
      feigned concern is that, according to the JPPI website, the =
organization=20
      "calls upon Israel to end its brutal military occupation of the =
West Bank,=20
      Gaza Strip, and East Jerusalem... supports the Palestinian =
people's right=20
      to exercise self-determination... supports the evacuation of =
[Jewish]=20
      settlements... recognize[s] the [Arab] refugees' right of =
return..." All=20
      of which is in contradistinction to the firm belief held by many =
on the=20
      Christian right that, in the words of Senator James Inhofe (R., =
Okla.),=20
      "Israel is entitled to that land."=20
