Don’t give up, Charlie,
The benefits of eating to best serve your microbiome can be felt in as
little as two weeks of getting enough fiber. Eighty percent of people in
the US don’t get enough fiber in the diet.
Last night I spent two hours listening to a Library of Congress panel of
doctors and other health care professionals talking about their mission of
helping elderly patients.
It was both disheartening and shocking that not one word was said about
nutrition. Even though all the maladies that result from diet were invoked
not one word about what the patients ate. That’s how deeply embedded is the
prejudice against plant based eating.
It’s as though slaughter was fundamental to making food. Yet that part of
food processing is what spreads the bacteria load around to all animal food
products—and inflammation to those who eat it.
Dead or alive bacteria act like an implant from another species. Our bodies
must reject them which is what results in the troublesome inflammation.
Best,
Frances
