      strategy of “dealing from a position of strength” by terror bombing the
      urban population of Hanoi, bombing the hospital many times and scattering
      booby traps that were based on children’s toys so the toddlers who were
      killed by playing with them would terrorize the adults with fear of
      the brutal and remorseless Americans.
      This had the same effect as Hitler’s terror bombing of London: it
      strengthened the people’s will to resist. It made me ashamed to be an
      American, to have an unwilling role in this immoral and vile
war. I joined
      the many boo-ers when the American flag was paraded at the circus. Our
      country has done little in the last fifty years to redeem itself. It has
      pretty much carried on as the international bully, aiding its puppet
      dictators in Central America and so on. Now tRump and his ilk
want war with
      China, which is basically what we had with Vietnam, but somehow
good sense
      stopped our invasion of North Vietnam. Nixon pretty much had to recognize
      Red China to successfully negotiate our hasty retreat.

      up to that while still in the barracks, but not before I had compromised
      myself morally and spiritually. I had come out of the kind of childhood
      that made the Marines seem like a safe place to be. "Nope", thus spoke
      Purple Haze, Orange Barrel and the Student Left in Memphis and Southern
      California. I was surprised as all Hell when I found the same support in
      Texas! <3

       Thank you Sandra. I have had these matters on my desk every day for
      a Half Century. There is a certain Secondary PTSD associated with that
      fact. Because I do NOT want to end up voluntarily dead, I have almost
      decided to take advantage of the Veterans Administration Counseling,
      although I know dozens of veterans who swear that their experience there
      was not helpful, and often hurtful.

Hon,
      I am dangerously Old Testament regarding those particular sins. My Leftie
      and Liberal allies have often said that I'm a bit primitive at times. As
      Walt Whitman said, "I am huge and contain multitudes.".
