What is the name of this movie? I saw another biographical version of WW2 related legend about a young woman reasearching the role of one village during the Holocaust, The Nasty Girl. It was a great story that needed to be told--the conflict between those who want to explore the phenomenon and those who just as well forget about it.
Sorry to hear about the end of Waterloo Video. I hope this helps Dian at Vulcan.
Best,
Frances

with the closing of Waterloo Video i have been
thrown back on the resources of the Austin
Public Library.

i found this one at random: a Norwegian movie
about the pro-Nazi Norwegian novelist Knut
Hamsun. Hitler admired Hamsun's The Growth of
the Soil (i actually read this once my father had
a Modern Library translation of it in the library).

Max von Sidow plays Hamsun. he actually met/
meets Hitler although he does no/did not speak German
(his wife did/does and she gave readings in German
translation of his meisterstuck in Germany during the
war). after the war she did 3 years in prison and he was
psychiatriacally examined at length (he is made
to watch movies of the concentration camps),
brought to trial, and fined of his wealth.

you will know Von Sidow from the many Hollywood
B movies in which he played the Nazi in the cellar.

von Sidow is masterful in this role. his speech in
the courtroom with the tremor in his right hand
is/will be unforgettable.

it is being pointed out to me by my roommate that he
was Bergman's favorite actor (as well as playing the
Nazi in the cellar in umteen forgettable flicks).
