shocking news: Robert Barnstone committed suicide
yesterday in his West Austin home. according to 
the Statesman article, he had had a brain seizure
last year and never got back his mojo. he was
61. his brother the architect likewise committed
suicide and, i believe, his father as well.

he was married to the beautiful Anne Bauer,
younger sister of Patricia Bauer of the Sweetish
Hill Bakery. 

on an apparently unrelated subject, i found
myself at the Governor's Mansion on 11th
and Lavaca. the authorities have erected a
green plastic fence around the site to hide
it. nothing can be seen except a glimpse of
the second floor through the trees. there were
4 police cruisers with men in blue cooping inside
them. doubtless this is to capture the arsonist
should he return to gloat.
