Israel evacuated its settlements from Gaza and departed. Would like to do
the same from the West Bank but now they are reluctant to because Hamas
might take over the West Bank as it has the Gaza Strip and rocket Israel. So
Israel occupies the West Bank until such time as Abu Mazen and the Fatah
demonstrate that they can suppress the terrorists. Don't hold your breath
till this happens.

So the above statement is inaccurate to say the least. Whoever wrote it is
ignorant of what the Israelis are about.

Gerry, are you not impressed by the efforts of the IDF to avoid civilian
casualties?

One thing the Reuters article did not go into was how the IDF has such good
intel. What they do is the Shin Bet (national policee) blackmails Arabs that
have been arrested for one thing or another: drugs, car theft rings or
whatever. Then lest they be denounced as Israeli agents, they must join
Hamas and finger one or another terrorist who might be going to move
explosives in his car at such and such a time for example. That allows the
IDF to nail him with a rocket from a helicopter and avoid civilian
casualties. Of course as the article pointed out, sometimes the explosives
in the terrorist's vehicle blow up causing peripheral casualties.
