The musical play is at the Alley Theatre here this weekend, part of a
Janis Joplin birthday celebration.
We are considering getting tickets to see it. Does anyone know whether
it is worth it? I know it is based on Laura Joplin's book from Janis'
letters home.
Other celebrations of Janis' 65th birthday include:
In Port Arthur
-Birthday Bash - Dedication of a historical state marker in front of her
childhood home, at the Gulf Coast Music Hall of Fame (with show).
www.museumofthegulfcoast.org
-Joplin area of the Museum of the Gulf Coast with her artwork, music and
replica of painted Porche.
-Janis Joplin road trip. Two hours, guided tour birthplace, dad's
workplace, first home, childhood home, baptismal church, grade school,
junior high school, high school (Memorial High School), junior college,
coffeehouse, radio station she visited and pleasure island (a place that
maybe someone on this list could better describe) -Second Annual JJ
Birthday Party (concert by Myrna Sanders and the Kozmic Pearl) at Dan
Electro's Guitar Bar (in Houston) www.myspace.com/kosmicpearl
Really something isn't it -
Connie
