Gerry,

you dont like country? George Jones? Dolly Parton? Charlie Pride? boy are
you missing out.

i used to hang with a Moroccan named Halil Azouz from Casa(blanca). His
friends called him Ghazi. I learnt recently that Ghazi meets good hunter.
and
was he! the girls just fell in his lap, it was a hoot hanging out with him.
this was
in Paris 1954-55.

last time i spoke to him was on the phone, he had made it to 'Merica as had
told
me he planned to by getting married to a French jewish woman. she got a visa
and by agreement she left and he stayed behind. this would have been in the
60's.
i wonder what happened to him. he had called me at my mother's phone number
and talked dirty to me in French.

as for Arab male sociability, there's little that compares. you go into
their room,
shake hands with everyone and you are made a cup of mint tea. the mi casa
tradition to the max.

that's where i got into Arabic music. they used to play records until after
nightfall when you could get in the Arab music stations from afar. takes
a little listening to but once you start hearing the changes, it is heavy
duty.

as for their eth music, Mexican music is for the tone deaf, Bohemians and
Germans
- you like polkas??????

Gerry, you should try listening to country music and leave their politics
and religion
out of it. as a musically sensitive person you might just start hearing the
pathos
of the music.

ps tennis on the tube from Stade Rolland Garros can be very exciting. but
too much sport watching on the tube will drain your sex drive. i am a big
Henin fan, i must admit.
