[AGL] Randy rides for MS and delicious Paella

Hi.
I'm sending along some pics of Randy finishing 180
road miles of bike riding for the MS 150 charity ride
last weekend. This is one big charity event.  The ride
is limited to 13,000 riders, who have all signed up by
early November.  BP has 760 riders on their team and
raise close to 1 mil themselves.  Each rider must
commit to $500.

The team he rode with is sponsored by El Meson
restaurant.  The owner (wife) is a bicycle advocate
that I have worked with over the years, and she
invited Randy in on the team after one of her riders
had to drop out.  Randy did fine.  He made the first
leg from Houston to LaGrange with ease - although
plenty tired. He took the park trail through Bastrop
and challenged the major hill slopes and as you see
crossed the finish line in Austin.  

Photos also attached show the restaurant owner/chef
Peter Garcia (Cuban) preparing a fantastic Paella for
the riders and support.  Yeah, I got to sit around and
watch this very entertaining chef while Randy rode! 
(Peter is the one with a pony tail, worn boots and
pants).

This is not the first time that Randy has done the MS
150.  19 years ago, he partnered up with a team he
found through Clark Santos and road when the riders
numbered only 4000.  Yes, Clark rode all the way to
Austin too.  Crappy little bike, as I recall, no lycra
fancy pants, team jersey or anything - just Clark on a
bike.

If you are in Houston and want to try El Meson, they
are on University Blvd just a couple blocks west of
Rice University.  Cool little place with great
Sangria, fused Mexican and Cuban dishes.

No, not me.  I do not do bike rides longer than 2
hours - no sore butt riding for me!
