[AGL] half an hour late and still up, sorta

Several retired contractors here at RBJ Tower said that those kind of pillars are the hardest to bring down, after all they were built to last. The pillars are of solid concrete with quantities of rebar running up throughout, which could be seen on top. Apparently I-beams, and blocks and bricks, are easier to demolish. It's just sorta hanging there, leaning in without having fallen. What in Atlanta had been a sixteen story building imploded to a two-story pile of rubble--this was a four story that fell to a three story. Yikes! This is gonna be a continuing saga--can't wait for John Kelso's take on it.
Best,
Frances

Yeah, we (me, Kathy Doyle, Houston & Dian)watched from the front lawn of
Dave Richards old building at 7th and Nueces. There was a nice crowd in the
hundreds there and on down towards sixth- a sort of party atmosphere - it
was exciting to see it and hear the series of explosions - quite loud - but
the pile of rubble was much taller than I expected. Did they indeed not
finish?
