Gerry,
thanks for your advice-it was very encouraging. We got a hand brake
installed-mostly a cable or two, wasn't too expensive but we have
decided to continue parking on flat surfaces or flatest ones we can find
and still use our block of wood for a little support.. The hand brake is
so strong (I had to use both hands to release it) and the rest of the
car being so much older, have decided to let the rest of the car slowly
adapt to it.
Where in the Pugent sound area did you live?
