[AGL] crowded slum apartment with folk music

Michael-- I looked at the Texas Observer collection of documents recently
posted by Thorne and found them pretty much concerned with the anti-war
movement of the later 60s. However, one 1963 document leapt out at me-- a
psychological profile of the "ghettoite" which begins with the claim that
because they called their "slum apartment" a "ghetto", they must have been
deliberately identifying with the pre-World War II Jews of Europe!. I guess
these fellows had never heard of the "ghetto" used as a term denoting a
black slum area. So were we Black-imitators, Jew imitators, or just students
and drop-outs looking for a cheap-rent place to eat peyote and play folk
music? Here's the hilarious psychological profile, which ends with a
disturbing Hitleresque conclusion: Get rid of them all!
