does tonto mean quick?

all the spanish i know i learnt listening to the Long Ranger
and his sidekick Tonto on the radio. urban legend had it that tonto meant 
stupid: From out of the west come the thundering hoofbeats of the great 
horse Silver, the Long Ranger rides again. da da dadada thump thump etc.
