  Mike,
Doesn't it have to do with, "They do eat horses, don't they?" I remember the El Matamoros chain in Austin getting busted for having a pile of dog food cans in their dumpster out back. Seems that is what was in the tacos. I remember making the remark that these tacos sure smell like dog food. Back then horsemeat was used for pet food. Of course, I didn't slow down on eating those tacos. Hey, I even ate rattlesnake which was on the menu at a hotel restaurant in Rio Grande city during the Huelga marches doen on the border. Yep, tastes like chicken.
If the idea of eating horse meat makes a vegetarian out of you, imagine what goes into hot dogs as opposed to what is in soy-dogs. That keeps me ordering like a vegetarian.
  Best,
  Frances

    Gerry,

I read the piece. It doesn't seem to have a pro vegetarian argument.
    Am I missing something?

Another good reason to be a vegetarian.
